    Poor PR move!

So a friend of mine paid to reactivate account yesterday and finds out he can't get in the game. 2 days after merger/transfer SE decides to post this notice. Are you kidding me? You are charging people to tell them later they can't play? How about you guys disable the payment option before the merger/transfer started since this process was part of your plan!

We are doing our part to motivate people to support your product... do your part and use common sense! You all are putting a lot of effort into making a disaster game better and its working. Don't destroy your good work with poor planning and decisions. Its hard to convince people to try your product again after your monumental disaster of a release. It is impossible to do with situations like this, especially when people pay, can't play, and days later you all release a statement that boils down to thanks for giving us your money for a month time, you have to wait until mid to late April to play.

A Notice to Players Resuming Their Recurring Service Option (Mar. 28)
The World merge was performed on March 27, 2012. In this merger, all characters will be transferred from their old Worlds to the new ones. However, because this would dramatically increase the volume of characters, we only transferred characters within a service account that had the “Subscribed” status as of both March 26 and March 27, 2012.

The transfer was not performed on characters that did not have the “Subscribed” status on either March 26 or March 27, 2012, or on both days. Transfer of these characters will be performed gradually at a later time. Once the transfer is complete, players will be able to play on their characters in the new World if they have completed the steps to resume their automatic recurring service options.

Priority for the character transfer will be given to players who resume their automatic recurring service option before the transfer process is completed. However, please note that it will take several days after a player resumes their automatic recurring service option for the completed transfer to take effect.

    * Transfer of all characters is scheduled to be completed between mid to late April.

We deeply apologize for the belated announcement and for any inconvenience this may cause.

It says in the announcement you copy+pasted from that paid characters will be given priority over inactive characters and should take 'several' days before they can be played, in contrast to all characters being transferred by 'mid to late April'. Your post, with the text of the official announcement, is misleading and contradictory.

At the least they should not count down your paid days until your character is active, and they should indeed have announced this sooner, as conceded in the announcement, but I can see there being practical limitations around getting the paid players up immediately, especially if there has been a surge in reactivations due to the merge.

    Misleading/contradictory... hardly.

I am not referring to inactive accounts who's players are not even there to notice what's going on with their "limbo accounts". They won't even know or care that they are on a new server 4 months from now when they try to reactivate.

I am simply saying that for someone like my friend (a returning player from the failed release) who paid his money upfront to reactivate his account in order to play and confront this notice posted today, known by SE beforehand "We deeply apologize for the belated announcement and for any inconvenience this may cause." is bad business.

Take the game down a few days if needed to avoid this sort of thing, or better yet disable the activation services until all is sorted out (they do this on a regular basis during maintenance and such).
