    Let's Discuss The DPS Imbalance - Thread Compilation and Discussion

    Right, so people are in a big uproar over how the damage from every Melee Job except SAM is disrupting the Developer's intended group composition(2 Tanks, 2 Healers, 2 Melee, 1 Ranged, 1 Caster) due to how much damage is being done along with the massive rDPS disparity that is caused by both MNK/DRG/NIN.

    You can loop SAM in with the other melee. It's more that MNK is out ahead, and the other three are close. rDPS has some gaps, and a big one for this topic is that it doesn't tell you the value of some jobs being better at using raid buffs. That's a big selling point of SAM so it's important to keep that rDPS blind spot in mind when evaluating it.

    There also definitely has not been enough time for optimization groups to try MNK+SAM, whereas MNK+NIN is easier due to at least some people gearing NIN versus nearly no groups having two Striking players. You'd also want DNC to really maximize SAM's value, and a number of groups will have ranged that used the coffer on gun or bow.


    Anyway, big picture, there's not really a whole lot to say. SE has messed up badly, and the players known about these problems since not long after launch. 5.08 merely proved that SE, somehow, does not.
