The Ultimate Hairstyle Thread - Discussion and Requests

I love options, and I have at least one character of every race (although not every sex) and I have wanted to make a thread all about hairstyles for a while, discussing what we have, and what we want to see about hairstyles in the game.

What We Have:
(picture as of patch 2.5, minus Event Lightning and Snow hairstyles and minus Eternal Bond hairstyles)


With Patch 2.5 we have our first completely unisex hairstyle. A couple hairstyles cross races and sex, but not extensively before now. Our next hairstyle to come is also looking to be unisexed. We have several varieties of long hair, many short hair options and many mid-length options. I plan to update the thread again with larger pictures to showcase all of the options and styles currently available.


Male Roegadyn have 26 selectable options for hairstyles at character creation for patch 2.5. Five of these options are minor variations of other styles so you could think of it as 21 basic styles.


Male Miqo'te have only 19 selectable options, putting them at the fewest style options of all the race/sex combinations.
Male Lalafel 21 options for hairstyles only two of which are completely unique to them.
Male Elezen have 20 hairstyle options
Male Highlander Hyur have 24.
Male Midlander Hyur have 25.

Female Roegadyn have 20 hairstyle options.
Female Miqo'te have 24 hairstyle options.
Female Lalafel have 24 hairstyle options.
Female Elezen have 24 hairstyle options.
Female Highlander Hyur have 20 hairstyle options.
Female Midlander Hyur have 26 hairstyle options.

What We Want:
"Black" hairstyles - fluffy afro hairs, cornrows, dreadlocks ect.
Drill curls - ringlets, styled curls, princess/royal type hair
Other Hairstyle Requests
NPC hairstyles
More unisex hairstyles
Different Combinations of existing front bangs and back hair.
More "Style"!


But more than just something NEW, I'd like to see more of what we have shared amongst other races, because some races are rather lacking in any originality sharing most of their hairstyles with other races anyway. Some of these hairstyles, as mentioned here, are just the same hairstyle except with added options, like the number of braids, the length of the hair or the style of the bangs... these hairstyles are even shared amongst other races, but only one race ever has the multiple options.

On top of this, we have certain hairstyles with accessories and on SOME races, these accessories have multiple color options, while on OTHERS where the style is shared, there is only one color option. We really need the option to change the color of these accessories, hairpins, and hairbands.

I need long hair. I don't care if it clips anymore. I want hair the length of the 2.4 miqo'te hair, but not kiddie styled. I don't care if they're twintails, ponytails, loose, sexy, simple, fancy...I just want long hair. I just need more that isn't barely past shoulder length. Stuff like the length of Yugiri's hair in the 2.5 trailer.
I'd also love to see more black and shared option hairstyles as well. I would never use the black hairstyles, but I would like to see people able to use them on their characters. And I'm so picky about the front of hair - I dislike how kiddie the lala twintails are in the back but the front looks so good on my miqo'te that I don't care. So those hairs with multiple options...I neeeeed.

I also don't care if it clips.

I want Yuna and Rikku's hairstyles from FFX and FFX-2.

Mostly from FFX-2. ;3

I want a very long exaggerated ponytail. With as much hair as the longest hairstyle in the game, all made into a wild yet elegant look. Plus I like ponytails since they stick back farther and prevent clipping at times.

I also support more unisex hairstyles.

Honestly though, I would just like more long hair in general.
