Can I PLEASE have a response from someone on the support team who actually does their job? I just tried to run a dungeon as a tank and suffered THREE fatal directx errors over the course of TEN minutes, causing the healer to ragequit. This problem is actively harming my playtime and wasting other players' time as well. I'm not sitting on my lazy ass waiting for people to solve this for me, I'm actively scouring the internet and talking to other people who have suffered this problem and trying to figure out what is causing this error.

Dear Square Enix, I'm subscrbed to FFXIV beacuse I love it, but I can't justify keeping the sub up if I can't get the game to actually work. The radio silence from the people you specifically hired to help us players out sure doesn't help.

What size power supply have you got? And is it something with a brand name? I'm wondering if it's simply not powerful enough to handle the demands your graphic card is making on it.

Can you explain what the power supply is in a way that so is so dumbed down that you seriously believe you are insulting me? My first language is not English so it's possible that I know what you are talking about but have a different term for it.

Thank you for the update Iplewhelmed. I apologize for the delay in our response.

Unfortunately, this kind of error is difficult to diagnose. It looks like you are running into this issue at nearly every type of area in the game and on random occasions. Additionally, you have tried the standard troubleshooting we offer for this kind of problem. Since this started happening after you started using a new PC, there could potentially be hardware issue somewhere in your PC. Exactly where this issue stems from is difficult to say.

Is it possible to try playing the game on a different PC? Or potentially swapping out some components? This could narrow down which part might be the issue.

    Hi,

It's the part where you plug the power cable into. From the inside it's a square box, but from the outside you only see one side of it. It will also likely have some sort of sticker or markings on it to tell you what capacity it is in watts (like 400W, 500W, 750W etc).

This is how much power it can provide to your computer. If your computer tries to use more power than is available, problems can happen, including errors like you've described.

On the previous page it says you have a GTX 760 and NVIDIA recommends you have a minimum of a 500W power supply for that (the graphics card doesn't need that much power, but the rest of your computer will also need some power).

This might not be the problem, but it's worth checking just in case.

I've had this issue since I've started playing the game, on multiple machines, and across multiple gpu's and cpu's, after clean reinstall, ect. There's no solution to this. The only thing I've found is that its much more prevalent to happen in gridania/shroud areas for some reason. I doubt this error has anything to do with hardware. The only guess I've had is window's 10 updates, nvidia updates, and whichever patch for ffxiv happens to come out have to all play nice together, and that rarely happens. Its easy to control your windows and gpu updates, but after a ffxiv patch that wont cooperate comes out, you're pretty much SoL until you get more updates that may or may not make it occur less often.

The last 8 people I've had to fix this problem for have all had overheating issues, and I notice you don't mention this in "Things I have tried"
Run HWInfo or HWMonitor in the background, and after a crash tab back into those programs and see the temps you have recorded.

I likely won't see your replies to my posts so if it's important, /tell Lem Ayase@Kujata .

To me, the same problem happens everytime I get to crowded places or Alt+tab to another window. This is getting messy, and the only thing that actually "solves" the problem is not using DirectX 11 at all, running on DX9 instead. Unfortunately, as Shadowbringers approaches and, with it, the end of DirectX9 support, that only means I'll either get used to playing a continuously crashing game (believe when I say I've tried every single thing on the internet and beyond, only to find out nothing really works, all considering I'm having the issue with FFXIV and nothing else) or I'll just quit it and go play something that actually runs without issues. Both my high-end desktop and my low-end laptop (which runs FFXIV just fine) are facing this problem. Square Enix's support seems clueless about it, as the most help we ever get comes either from the community or from unrelated online forums.

This is a long existing issue and I have many reasons to believe that's not on our end, so go guess.

I have played Final Fantasy XIV on other PCs and never encountered this error message on those PCs. So yes, this is possibly a problem with my current PC and/or the way it's setup

I have never tried this because this is decidedly NOT an issue, since I play a couple of other mmorpgs with much worse optimization than FFXIV, that are MUCH heavier on the GPU and the fanning system, and they never crash or overheat my PC. FFXIV is the only game on my PC that is consistently crashing.

With all due respect, just because it works in another MMO doesn't mean it's still not a hardware issue. Different games use the hardware differently and unless you actually test/exclude this as a possibility, it's still a possible cause of your problem.

Did you also look into your powersupply as mentioned here?
