Then first...Final Fantasy XIV does NOT have a native MAC version. Wrappers are nothing more than built-in emulators. You're running a completely standard Windows version of the game, through a third-party program that translates it. The only difference is that it was provided "built in" by the developer.

Second, it is a question to whoever produced that wrapper then. If it will have 64-bit support then it will work. If it won't, then you won't be able to run Final Fantasy XIV on your computer anymore...unless through means of an emulator of your own, of course. It may very well work with your wrapper-included version as a matter of fact, but that's just a guess. I do believe that someone did run that version on Windows and complained about being cheated due to false advertising of a "native" version, getting a non-native, wrapper-using game, after all.

And that's the question that only Square can answer, given it's the "mac version" that Square puts out and licenses separately from the Windows version.

Not really, no. The wrapper is made by TransGaming, not Square Enix. It's the same deal as with anti-cheat stuff like Denuvo and such. They just license a third-party tool and implement it into their code.

Or at least it did use that when released. Maybe they changed it, but it'll still most likely not be made by Square Enix. There is just no business reason for that as developing their own wrapper would cost more than just making a native version which is strictly superior to any middleware tool.

Sorry for the bit of a late response, but even though that's technically correct, it misses the point--namely that the question being posed is whether or not a Mac version of XIV will continue to be supported in 5.0. Whether Square Enix licenses a 64-bit compatible wrapper instead, or makes a native Mac version in-house, the reason I posted this is a concern over whether the devs intend to maintain Mac support long-term.

Maybe you should post this question in the technical support section of the forums instead? I think you're much more likely to get an informative answer there.

It's funny you mention that, actually; before posting this, I googled around to see if it was addressed anywhere and found that someone posted this in Tech Support months ago, before the Shadowbringers announcement. Also that someone else made it a bug report, but it, well, isn't a bug report.

I figured I would post it here because it felt to me that the tech support answer was more of a "Noted, but we can't answer this here." Though, I do have a thread there on a related issue--I suppose you're right in that it wouldn't hurt to bring it up there.

I don't know why this was bumped today, but as it so happens, they just posted this:
