[dev1242] Revamping Food and Medicine Suggestions:

I have two suggestions for the revamping of Foods and Medicines:

    1) Considering that the effects of Foods are Long Lasting, whereas the effects of Medicines are Short Lasting it seems logical that you reconsider switching the reuse delay so that Medicines have a short reuse delay (instead of long) and that Foods have a long reuse delay (rather than short).

    2) Medicines and Foods that act as Crafting and Gathering Class buffs, for ex:

    Miner's Meal: +Output, +perception, +gathering, +VIT, +MND

    Botanist's Bounty: +Output, +perception, +gathering, +STR, +INT
    Fisher's Forage: +Output, +perception, +gathering, +DEX, +PIE

    Carpenter's Curry: +Control, +Mgc. Craft., +Craft., +VIT, +DEX
    Blacksmith's Brunch: +Control, +Mgc. Craft., +Craft., +STR, +MND
    Armorer's Ale: +Control, +Mgc. Craft., +Craft., +VIT, +STR
    Goldsmith's Gluttony: +Control, +Mgc. Craft., +Craft., +DEX, +INT
    Leatherworker's Luncheon: +Control, +Mgc. Craft., +Craft., +VIT, +INT
    Weaver's Waffles: +Control, +Mgc. Craft., +Craft., +DEX, +MND
    Alchemist's Alkaloids: +Control, +Mgc. Craft., +Craft., +INT, +PIE
    Culinarian's Cookies: +Control, +Mgc. Craft., +Craft., +MND, +PIE

The same can be done with Medicines given a higher buff for a shorter period of time.

That is all, Thank you for reading.

How about having food synths that combine multiple finished dishes into one meal, and combine their stats? How about medicines and making them an "elixir pack"? "Crafter's Hearty Meal", "Archmage's Elixir Pack", "Warrior's Fortifying Lunchbox".

I like the food ideas. The reuse delays are fine the way they announced them and make more sense than switching them as per your suggestion. The whole idea is that food effects arent drastic and thus can be maintained indefinitely whereas medicine effects are potent and thus cannot be spammed, but rather timed for key opportunities or used in a pinch.

Yes, this is my understanding as well. And it does make sense. But if you think about it, what's the point in having long lasting Food effects (5-30min) on a 30 second reuse delay? Who in their right mind would eat food every 30 seconds when the effects last 5+minutes. On the other hand Medicine with a 1 minute lasting effect that can only be used every 5 minutes makes sense as far as "using it in a pinch" is concerned, in which case perhaps medicines should have a reuse delay only applicable to same stat bearing medicines...

Yea, perhaps they meant the cooldown would be short relative to the buff duration. Even if not, one may want to switch to another food's buff. Expecting them to last 30-60 minutes so I'd rather not have to wait very long to switch from 1 small buff to another.

We shall see. Definitely have my fingers crossed for a variety of DoH/L food though.

Yeah, I understand about switching from one buff to another. Yet, considering that Food Buffs will likely over ride one another I don't see someone over riding a Buff that lasts 30 minutes, one, two, or five minutes after consumption. And I deffinately understand how overpowered it could be if medicines have short reuse delays because they give such a big buff people would just perma spam them...

In any case, DoH/DoL specific foods would be nice ._. especially one recipe per class.

There's already foods that give crafting and gathering bonuses, just in case you didn't know.

Off the top of my head, drinks give Magic Craftsmanship, Seafood dishes give +Control, non-salad vegetable dishes give +Gathering, Dairy products give +Perception, and most soups give +Output. Err... my point is that there will no doubt be gathering and crafting food.

I am well aware of this Estellios, nonetheless I would like to see foods that give +stats specific to EACH crafting/Harvesting class. I must admit I am slightly dumbfounded when I see that SE went through all the trouble to apply two non craft/magic craft/control/output/perception/gather stats (as in int/pie/mnd etc..) as a variable affecting these classes yet there is so little focus on gear specifically designed for these stats for each of the classes.

It makes me think that the +int/mnd/pie/str/vit/dex stats added to DoL/DoH are useless, and I would like to believe otherwise. Would it really be that hard to add a specific food dish+medecine+gear that is CLASS specific targetting these stats in addition to craft/magic craft/control/output/perception/gathe?

    Ohhhh I get you now.

I don't think there would be an "all-encompassing" food/medicine since it's somewhat imbalanced (it would be like having food that gives + Attack, Defense, Accuracy, and Evasion for a battle class) and one of the reasons for having different kinds of food at all is so you have to pick and choose what aspect of your character you currently want to buff. However, it would be nice to see gathering/crafting stats + a raw stat or two, like you suggested.

    Here is to hope:

    Enjoy!

    1. They won’t be treated as different items. The item name will have “dated” added and the effects will be updated to the new effect (except for certain items).
    2. System wise, it is not possible for the current version to display the cool down timer and we apologize for the inconvenience. We plan on making this possible in 2.0.

In patch 1.21, the items that currently stack to 12 will change to 99. Currently unstackable items will remain as is.

It will be possible to use status ailment recovery items on other players, including Dawn Drops and Company Issue Tonic

    1. This spec will change with the edits.
    2. Yes. There will be food items that grant bonuses to DoH and DoL specific stats.
    3. It will not be possible to check this on the The Lodestone recipe page, but it will be listed in the patch notes.
Of course MY thread will NEVER get a forum mod response...
