    How Should a Gunblad user Play?

    Out of Curiosity, Want to see people's ideas on how A Gunblade user (whether they are DPS, Tank, or for some reason Healer) would Play out. Whether or not its an original class, or a FFXIV version of Mystic Knight or Blue Mage, I wanna hear people's opinion

    Personally if the Job is a DPS, I'd like it to focus on switching between "stances," one that Focuses on Melee and another that focuses on Ranged and having the ability to either play as a Pure Melee or Pure Ranged or switch them to gain Some temporary Buffs that are unique to the stance in order to Maximize damage

    Hmmm probably same as Leon. Close range to mid range seems about right to me. Kind of how Garlean Legatus Gaius van Baelsar used. Seemed like a semi tank stance to me the way he fought, just with more moves and flashier attacks O.o/

    Personally my thought was to focus on buffing up their gunblade and to mix ranged and melee attacks together. I figure a combo-less, no-positional melee class would be best. Maybe make their damage be based on distance rather than angle if there's going to be any positional stuff.

    I've been working on my own interpretation of it, using a mixture of Samurai's Kenki Gauge, Machinist's Ammunition, and the elements from Black Mage to give it a melee magic DPS feel, with DEX as its primary stat.

    Physical range DPS but a little less range and some emphasis on physical attacks maybe even moves have more or less potency depending on how far you are

    Quistes Dark knights new Aoe is ripped from squall in dissidia btw just recolored purple

    maybe a cross between gladiator, machinist and rdm, BUT no magic can be used. i think it can be like a cross between a ranged support dps role and melee dps role. with the lack of magic it can be a good counterpart to rdm but with more utility and slightly lesser dps.

    Opposite of RDM.
    Melee combos into a gap opener to some rooty tootie point and shooty, into a gap closer for more melee fun time.

    My job concept is around this.

    Gunblade would have a unique action type, the Weaponspell.
    Weaponspell: Instant cast if melee range, increasing cast time the farthest is the target, up to 25y.

    And has a unique trait that increases magic damage every time a weaponspell is used, up to 4 stack, then release in the next spell. Normal spells have low potency, but with the 4 stack they become stronger than the weaponspell.

    If anything, I'd sort of picture it like Machinist, having an overheat gauge of sorts; do a ranged combo, increase the meter, do a few sword rotations to reduce the overheat meter, then have a sort of burst mode. Maybe they'd have to balance the gauge.

    Not sure, it would be interesting to see what SE (Yoshi P.) Comes up with. I'll say this though, I'd love it to be like LeoLupinos's concept, that'd be something fun and unique.

    Honestly a gunblade should be almost all melee. if we go off 8. As the gun blade wasn't really a gun. It was just a sword that during an attack when fired would do an extra cuncusive pulse. This pulse would do more damage, and make pulling the blade free of things easier. Basicly it's a sword with alittle more kick. Those who play monster hunter might think of it as some of the weapons that like explode on contact or something like that.

    Now in 13 its a transforming weapon that transforms into either a gun or a blade, but never does both.

    In our current game its used more silimarlly to 8. So it should really just be a different kind of melee weapon.

    I think it would make alot of sense as a weapon for blue mage. Who are mages who field thier foes attacks. Using a weapon as thier offensive tool when not throwing out the quick and easy to utilize natural magic from enemies. Makes even more sense i'd say if blue was a tank using damage taken or dealt to charge up thier blue magic (sort of the reverse of redmages). The gunblade would be the blue mages tool for building up natural energy.

    Guess the way isee it. You'd have like an ammo slot that you'd need to use a GCD to reload for your gunblade. That lets you use gunblade builder attacks. It'd be like an aether gunblade that blast aether free from enemies to charge your blue magic. Then you'd have a bar that would fill with the extracted aether. If they go the tank route this pool could also be filled by taking damage in some way, maybe expending a round of your gunblade to project some aether absorbing barrier. that absorbs some x% of damage, and also charges your aether flow some amount with each hit taken.
