    [Suggestion] New Target Option

    Preamble

We are able to invite and oust other players by entering their names in the macro:
    /pcmd add Seyra Mihgo
    /pcmd kick Seyra Mihgo

So the game can recognize a target's name and send the request to the right person.

    Target Names

It means being able to target someone or something by putting the name in a macro.
It means being able to use an action on someone or something.

    For example:

    - I would like to target the nearest Star Marmot surrounded by Coblyns: /tenemy Star Marmot

    - I would like to taget a specific NPC: targetnpc Louisoix (1st name I could think of...)

    - I would like to use an action on Furryfoot Kupli Kipp: /a "Light Shot" Furryfoot Kupli Kipp

    - I would like to use an action on someone: /a "Cure" Seyra Mihgo

    Additional ideas:

    - New placeholder <stfr> : Target friendly NPC (Thank you Mychael)

    Thank you for reading.

Yes, can't /assist a name either. You can /assist <p#>. If the person isn't in your party it becomes tricky.

    Patch Note 1.20

[dev1249] The /assist text command has been added. This command allows you to target the target of another character. Characters can be specified using subcommands such as <t> and <st>
    Ex.)
    /assist <t>
    /assist <st>
    * As of patch 1.20, the /assist command does not support the direct input of character names. This feature is being considered for future release.
So looking for a teammate is like looking for a mob right now.

None of the following Patch Notes say that the /assist Name feature has been added:

    Patch Note 1.20a

    Patch Note 1.20b

    Patch Note 1.20c

It would be cool to add other Target Name options as well as /assist Name

Impossible for this one. Same problem as FFXI; if they put new roaming nms ppl will just make macros /action provoke "Nm name" and spam it to claim on pop :/

I agree with everything you say! (Except for the struck-through option, of course) but I would like to add that they should add <stfr> or some other placeholder to cycle through both friendly NPCs and PCs. We have <stenemy>, but nothing that lets me target an NPC that's fighting with me without hitting every monster as well. Right now the only friendly fighting NPC is your path companion, but hopefully more with Hamlet Defense(?) coming soon, I think this will make me /sad. <stnpc> will sub-target enemies as well, so the only realistic way to target friendly NPCs is to target them and /action "Bleh!" <t>.

Thank you Mychael, I added your idea to the OP.

Yes targetting a friendly NPC isn't a big problem outside battle if you use the target filter "Friendly". Once you're in battle it becomes tricky.

By the way, your Path Companion is in your party when you have it. I never had someone else beside my Path Companion. What happens? Can you invite someone else while partying with the Path Companion? If yes, are PC's and friendly NPC in the same party list or are they in two separated party lists?
