I was wondering if anyone else got the HTTP error followed by a run script error when opening launcher if you say yes to both it give a black screen launcher.
you had to close and re-open to fix it?
never seen that error before.

I'm getting a similar script error, except it shows a white screen with some text stating about server maintenance and 'to try again later'. And reloading the launcher does nothing, neither does clicking 'no' on the prompt, it still throws up the script error. I suspect Internet Explorer is at fault, as the launcher uses IE at it's core, so if the launcher kablooies it's probably IE acting up again.
EDIT: okay after a google search led me back to a past forum post with a similar problem, it seems the issue may be IE's security settings have changed, plus the cache needs clearing (Browsing history/cookies/temporary internet files). I've since followed that advice and done that but I haven't yet checked to see if it solves my particular issue by loading up FFXIV. Fingers crossed though.
I don't recommend any of the things in that bullet list other than clearing your cache/history. Those options it's telling you to disable are all important security features. In general, just keep closing/opening the launcher until it works. The problem stems usually from the login site not downloading properly(think broken images on a site that's chugging, happens more often if a lot of people are trying to get in at once).
Hello Zeonx, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums
Can you elaborate on the kind of issue you are having?
Please provide:
- Platform (PC, PS4, Mac)
- Type of connection (wired or wireless)
- Other programs running while the game is playing (if any)
- Everything you have tried to resolve the issue
Hope to be of assistance.
Hi all, I am also having this issue since the update today.
I tried all the suggestions in the previously linked thread, but it didn't work for me. I also tried release/renewing the IP address and switching DNS servers.
I am on a PC running windows XP (I know, I know) on a wired connection.
This is the error message:

Yeah clearing the cache and stuff didn't help me either, now it just throws up a 'HTTPS' error and the launcher completely closes.
And Chiral, I believe you've confirmed another suspicion I have, that this is an issue with XP (I'm also a XP holdout), and.. unfortunately SE dropped support for the game under XP long ago (as did Microsoft), so I've been kind of expecting this sort of thing to happen eventually (game-breaking bug that was XP specific and thus wouldn't be fixed). Of course it might not be operating-system specific, but it's highly likely XP might be at least partially responsible (in that, updating Internet Explorer to the last supported version would fix it, which is not compatible with XP). Ah well...
Looks like it's finally time to put XP to sleep.
It was windows 10 also it was similar to what he posted
after you say Yes it opened a box that said do you want to continue running the script so of course I do since it has something to do with the Update.
but I found a post that had some fixes with IE internet options and medium security and clearing history. and invalid download option, so if I have anymore problems next time I download I'll be back but hoping after I followed that guide another GM posted I won't be back thanks.

Looks like it's finally time to put XP to sleep.(( I was kinda thinking it was still OK since I didn't remember seeing an EOL notice from SE, but maybe not. Man... I really want to upgrade now, just costs money, you know? Seems silly if it's just a script error in the launcher and everything else runs fine.
Maybe I should make a new post for the XP issue if this one might be closed, get an official answer?![]()
