    Wow, really?

    I was quite upset about this issue. Very upset in fact, and I was all set to go on an internet rampage through the forum, but I won't and I will just give a warning to anyone with multiple character options to be very careful before I move on from FFXIV for good.

    I had two character options with the same name just different servers since the game was free and when I started I wanted to check out different servers to see what they were like. Anyway after being booted last night as subs started I got my money together today and went to reactivate. Long story short, after reactivating and thinking I was all set to play I found out I reactivated the wrong character option by mistake. I immediately felt like a complete idiot and couldn't believe that had happened, but surely SE could fix the problem and I could go on happily right? Wrong.

    Contacted support, and apparently there is no way to reverse the issue or even so much as just swap the options so I was told (though I'm not sure how much I believe that). Thought it was pretty weird really, I mean what if there is an unauthorized renewal? The person is just out of luck? SE doesn't even have the ability to deactivate one character option and activate a different one on a person's account?

    I have no one to blame though but myself, if I had paid more attention I wouldn't have made the mistake and it wouldn't even be an issue, but that's all it was, a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes including SE (see: FFXIV) so I thought they of all people would be more forgiving in a situation like this for someone actually trying to support this game through these hard times. Not say my only option is to pay another $9 for the character option I wanted the first time (since I had subbed for 3 months).

    What do they care though, they already have my money for 3 months. I will bite that bullet I suppose, but I won't be supporting FFXIV any longer or SE period for that matter. I was ready to fight the good fight all the way up to 2.0 and beyond as I had been doing for a while now, but I'm too disappointed after that.

    Anyway just letting everyone know my experience so that they can know to check, double check, triple check, etc. which option they choose upon reactivating should they need to in the future since there is no going back after.

    I wish FFXIV all the best and hope it crushes the competition when 2.0 hits. It definitely has the potential. Alright now I'll get out of everyone's hair and get back to Skyrim.

    Ah okay guess I should have checked search huh? lol

    Interesting that I am not alone in this, I feel somewhat less of an idiot.

    What im suggesting is while contacting SE to find out that if you delete the account you do not want, if the other will default to the active.

    since itl only be 1 active character in this instance it should be doable and they should be able to assist you with it

    Make sure you contact them first to confirm and get their name and employee number or case number if any.

    Don't want to end up deleting and losing the 3 month payment you put in the wrong character and them saying, too bad its your fault for deleting....

    exactly, thats why i said to contact SE before doing it.

    im sure by the end of the day itl become a known issue and something will be done about it that wont require this, it cant be an uncommon occurance.


    we shoulda had all this solved a year ago, but since they didnt bill a year ago, they werent able to catch all this kinda stuff that could be happening(all companies go through this to some extent, im sure the fact weve been live for a year doesnt help it at all though)

    Interesting thought, I'll try it out. Though I'd figure the initial representative would have given me that solution? Unless they just had no idea. Either way it's a better shot than where I am currently.

    you would think that, but customer service reps dont actualy know the product they are dealing with, they usualy have a script and a list of solutions in front of them that are also scripted. they are nothing but a glorified automatic answering machine service with options that you have to discuss with them instead of punching i number responses.

    good luck with it though and let us know how it turns out, im sure by the end of the day/weekend SE will probly start addressing the billing issues as they come up, but since this just started this morning they have to get the info on whats happening so that they can deal with the issues

    That is a bummer.

    There must be a way to link the other character and remove the unwanted one.
