    ff14 crashes under DX11 ATI R9 380 video card

I recently came back and had my vid card upgraded before I came back. I don't know why this game crash and doesn't crash in other DX11 games like Tom Clancy Wildlands, Division and other games that I have. Anyone have any solutions? It doesn't crash under dx9.

Running win 10 64-bit, i5. I have all of win10 drivers updated (no creator) and clean install by uninstalling everything and reinstall and using amdcleanuputility program.

Update: To help pinpoint, a lot of my crashes happens in the dungeon Baelsar's wall. Either at the start of the stage or at the last boss. I did reinstalled FF14 too but that didn't fix it.

As far as i know, there isn't a solution for this because this game plays horrible on all AMD cards.

I got so frustrated, I sold mine and got an nvidia card. Shame really that this game doesn't work better with AMD.

I'm in a similar situation. Win10-64. i5. R9 380. Did a 'clean' install of fresh drivers using the AMD Clean Up Utility, and DDU in Safe Mode (several times). Opened up the PC and took apart everything to clean out any dust bunnies, applied fresh thermal paste. So temperature shouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, Windows 10 Home doesn't let me test older drivers (I wanted to try 16.3.2), as it always downloads 17.x.x.x through Windows Update. And yes, I've tried Registry tweaking and whatnot to try and stop the automatic download of newer drivers, they don't work anymore. I tried updating my Directx as well, for any missing components. Also did a fresh re-install of the game too. Ran CC Cleaner a couple times to ensure there weren't any registry issues.

It's frustrating, because this is the ONLY game that I play that will crash seemingly at random. Sometimes 10 minutes in, other times an hour+ in. I can play all my other games for hours on end with zero crashes and issues. Before I took my long break from this game, I never had crash issues.

I tried out DX9 mode and was able to play for a little bit. No crashes yet. But switching to DX9 is only a temporary fix, not a proper solution.

I have noticed, that after each 'Fatal Directx Error 11000002' crash, the Radeon drivers appear to become unresponsive too, most likely crashing as well. Either SE or AMD have an issue here that needs addressing.

from what ive read from others, there's a memory leak that occurs with AMD cards, a fix that SE and AMD could employ, but it seems like that the companies aren't in high priority with the other. I've had this since launch of ARR, started with a 5870, ran like crap, got a 760, ran great, wanted another gpu upgrade for other stuff, found a deal on a 290, ran like crap again, worse than the inferior 760, ended up grabbing up a 980, which again, made the game run great again.

Not sure where the problem lies exactly but got fed up with the performance issues :/

This HAS to be fixed before Stormblood, because DX9 is the only way people with most AMD cards can reliably play right now, and they're taking that away.

The last stable drivers that worked flawlessly with FFXIV were version 15.x. We are at 17.x now. That's a long period of time.

Even on DX9 it soft crashes when there's a lot of players on the screen after some time of playing (e.g. zoning into Idyllshire after an hour of playing). It even crashes the driver programs with it.

I don't know if it's a memory leak, but something isn't handling resources right. This is a very popular game with a huge budget, you can't expect half the demographic to switch to Nvidia cards (even if they did, people are reporting it's crashing there too).

Issues like these should be top priority, not unaddressed for years.

It's weird, I'm doing story and in the open world and no crashes but it seems like in the dungeons I get the crashes. In the ati control panel, I turned on GPU scaling under display tab and turn off shadow cache and anything else that ati is controlling to off to see if it will help from crashing in future dungeons.

O yes HUGE help is turning off discord hardware acceleration. For some reason that caused a lot of my crashes but not all of it.

Ok I was idling in open world and doing PotD but when I did a dungeon, the game crashed on me so turning on GPU scaling under display tab and turn off shadow cache and anything else that ati is controlling did not fix the issue for me.

What kind of error messages do you get with the crashes, if any?

heh check the value of your 380 on eBay, sell it and buy a 1070.. The mining craze has bumped the used prices of these cards to about $300 lol.

these issues are similar to ones some people are having with Nvidia cards as well. It seems like AMD has more issues but I'm having similar crashes (refer to the post All Kinds of CRASHES) and I have a GTX 1080. I just returned to this game and it's looking like I'm going to be un-subing because of all this unless they can get it fixed.
