Whatever havoc it is doing on my pc only seems to matter when FFXIV is open on Dx11.

I'm using a GTX 1060 but the latest drivers didn't make a single bit of difference. It seems like DX9 mode or bust for now for the lot of us. They have at least moved the thread that was in the bug section to "accepted bugs" but I have not heard of Square Enix doing or saying anything else on the matter yet.
Yep, this is currently my solution. DX11 will always provide me with black screens or my computer freezing up, which is clearly a video driver issue. However, I'm able to play on DX9 just fine and get my money's worth and play the game with my friends. While this is a temporary solution, Square Enix needs to address this issue. I have a top-end system for a reason, and being held back playing on DX9 instead of DX11 is disappointing. You don't get to experience everything the game's graphics have to offer.
