    Jump Potion...again

    So the jump potion was brought up during another interview with Yoshi and the community personalities are showing their dislike for it once again. They mentioned that the devs are still looking at public opinion and that we should post on the official forums.

    I really don't see any issue with having a jump potion. I have read the opposition to it and it doesn't make a lot of since to me.

    The MSQ gives players a chance to learn their jobs.
    How? If someone can explain to me how doing fetch quests or killing random squirrels for some random reasons, helps a player become a better tank or healer, I'll concede that point to you. Or if they can tell me how doing the story on my dps makes me a better tank when i finish lvling it. If your argument is for the dungeons that are run then fine, just gate the dungeons like they do the guildhests and remove the Story requirements from the dungeons. Friends can help run dungeons, not story quests. Some story quests have to be soloed, and a friend is just going to do an unsync run for quick results.

    This is a FF game and you should want to enjoy the story.
    Well this is a MMO game and most people play the game for the MMO experience. Dungeons, raiding, crafting, pvp, ect. Yoshi said that this is suppose to be like a theme park, but what theme park makes you sit through hours of videos before getting on rides? I don't think they should remove the story, just the requirements. Let people enjoy it at their own pace (or at all) instead of forcing players to enjoy the game the same way you enjoy it.

    Honestly do we even need a jump potion? I just finished lvling DRG from 20-60 in like 4 days doing palace of the dead. I feel like I'm pretty decent at the job and i didn't have to redo all of the story quests. All SE really needs to do is lift the story requirements on content in order for new players to catch up. Or they can release the jump potion and make some money off of it. The bottom line is this, does a new player really NEED to know what happened to Nidohog's eyes in order to be a better player skill wise?

    This game doesn't become MMO until you hit the current content. Before that, it's a single player RPG with a sub. Jumping will be necessary to get new players eventually.

    I'm kind-of against this, mainly because I don't want to see this community become WoW2.0. Mainly extremely toxic, full of immature jerks, and very elitist about how things are/should be done. I know we have that now, but I feel it's very very minor. I've run into maybe a handful of jerks while doing dungeons in the time I've been playing. I also have six characters total, so that's a lot of dungeons. :P But at the same time, BECAUSE I have so many alts, I also know the pain of the MSQ. But instead of jumping players to end game, where they will start to complain that there's nothing to do or the grind is too much, I seriously think the MSQ needs to be reworked. I know it would be more work for SE, but I think it would be better than a potion at the present time.

    MSQ Dungeons:
    If they won't rework dungeons so they aren't required, then I think upping the rewards for the MSQ dungeons might help some. Have the game be able to look at the player's level and adjust the rewards. Like more level appropriate tomestones. Right now the rewards are not very good for the MSQ roulette.

    Level Gating:
    THIS needs to be rethought. Period. Getting stuck from continuing the MSQ because you are one level below what it says you should be is stupid. With Palace of the Dead it's not as bad as it was, since you can run that for XP as well as nice rewards, but it's still stupid to have to stop doing the MSQ cause you have to level up. This is especially bad between 40 and 50. SE needs to increase the XP from the MSQ some to balance this better.

    All in all, I really hope they don't add a potion. Mainly cause I worry the quality of the community will decline rapidly. Also for fear that it will make RMT bots even worse. But if they do, there's not much we can do about it. But please SE, for the love of all that's holy, DO NOT MAKE THE POTION WORK FOR DOH/DOL classes!! This would be a HUGE middle finger to people that worked very hard to level up all gathering and crafting classes. And since it's not essential to end game, the potion shouldn't work on these. Also I feel it should only go to 50. Make them at least do HW. :P Just my one cent though.

    It's a single player MMO if you choose it to be. It's up to the player to join an FC make friends, find other newbies to play with while leveling up, etc. The end-game is no different from the beginning. You do content with others.

    Jump Potion is only okay with me if it costs $80 or more each character to justify skipping everything in the game.

    It's already bad enough I'm seeing newbies who haven't beaten Bismark NM yet have KINNA weapons. And are Lv60 through just PotD alone not knowing how to play at all. I feel like making a thread on that soon lol.

    That's jump potions on a much smaller scale.

    It is quite different - for one, you have access to a lot more content, as you can not only do the current one, but also all past content. Your progression is now going over gear, rather than levels. You also simply have more people to play with - Alexander synced is far more lively than the coils synced, same for PvP and everything else. CT is kept on life support via WT and the Aether Oils - Both endgame incentives.

    Personally, I'm probably not going to benefit from those potions either way, since I have 6 characters in Ishgard by now, but I'd have gladly shelled out five bucks just to skip the 2.1-2.55 quest series on my alts. Once was far more than enough.
