(SE if you're reading this, gimme my MC Hammer pants and pointy hat dammit!) :P
Yup, my friends and I all wanted it to appear but nooooooooooooooooo. We didn't ever even get Meteor even though the BLMs in the opening cutscene CLEARLY casted it multiple times (Or once but the spells sends down multiple meteors w/e)

If you want to be correct:

FF1 had Quake, so we've had "Earth" spells since the series was conceptualized.
And water spells belonged to NINJA MAGIC from IV as they got access to Flood which Edge learned.

Yup, though technically 'Stone' first appeared in FFXI. But, it wasn't the first appearance of earth based magic in general.

That's really getting nit-picky. Technically Shiva first appeared as Icen but it's still known and accepted to be Shiva.

actually stone was in final fantasy VI, and IX. IX it was not pc castable, but it was there.

But, anyways, I feel like the list is incomplete. I wish they would have said the names of the abilities to lessen the confusion. X.x

these are the most boring looking mage classes of any game I've played. I was going to pay to play but now I'm heavily reconsidering. ><

Water magic has been around since Final Fantasy III since that's when Leviathan was introduced. The Water element will still exist in 14... It'd be hard to lose all those crabs and other fish creatures over night.

hmmm....for some curious LS mates, I tested with:
water brand and Felt gaskins brown (mnd+8 int+8 pie+4)
    vs
    water brand and naked

test target is assume mnd+8 increase healing amount. temp forget about the int and pie...
The normal healing is 50/50 no crit heal at this case!
with pants normal healing avg is 701.7 with crit avg is 707.9
with no pants normal heal avg is 695.2

result is in previous posed google doc
    just for your reference...

    Hi guys,

It's a little early to do this test...
However, I did some test of 50 cure 3 and recorded down their normal heal and crit heal numbers: google doc here

So test object is myself. I use water brand (water resist +11 Att magic pot+22 water magic pot +11) and woolen cowl red (mnd +8 healing magic pot +12 magic eva +12)
    vs
Ifrit Cudgel (fire resist +15 att magic pot +20) and woolen cowl red (mnd +8 healing magic pot +12 magic eva +12)
    vs
water brand and Felt gaskins brown (mnd+8 int+8 pie+4)

in sum, water magic pot didn't increase any normal cure amount. (However I did get more crit healing. The total amount increased by 1.3%. It didn't mean anything)

and I tested the healing magic pot effect again. +12 healing magic pot ~ increased 1.3% in normal heal 3.1% at crit heal and 4% of total amount.

Please notice these test result is not a large scale test, so some items like crit heal avg is questionable. While normal heal amount is more accurate. for more crit heal test, you can see my previous post at Interesting Cure Magic Critical Calculation Method

PS. also this test disagree my previous post about magic eva and crit heal % ^^:
