I don't play a game to run dungeons and get items.. You get it and then what? Sit and wait for the next instanced dungeon to be put in so you can get something new? For what purpose? Where's the adventure?
Where is running into new people (outside of towns)?

If SE is really set on going this route then I'm afraid they'll never be able to hold my interest. No matter how much lore they add, they'll never be able to make up for the lack of the game feeling like a world.
I don't play lobby games because they're boring. I'd hate to see FFXIV turn into that... such a waste of potential.

As others have said, it really does make your heart sink. T-T

This is a very good description of how I feel about the matter. Furthermore, I'd like to place extra emphasis on the bolded part. If I want to play the part of a hamster on a gear treadmill...well, that's where WoW excels. Been there, done that. And I have no desire to go back.
