Dragoon Poll (Should DRG have a Wyvern?)

Oh I didn't forget FFII, it's just people are mainly pushing for Freya, Cain or a Dragoon whom uses breath abilities itself, i.e FFTT (more specifically, FFTTA) style.

There is no reason the wyvern couldn't become a mount, since as I've stated before in XI lore, Dragoons eventually were able to ride their full sized wyverns or Wyrms they've tamed, which Areuhat explained that some Dragoons during the crystal war were able to tame some of her kind (Wyrms.) So they could easily incorporate the Wyvern a different way from XI, it's just when people hear "the dragoon may be weaker" they immediately shun the idea altogether.

Let me try to put this in a perspective the pro-Wyvern group can understand:

When you tie Wyverns to Dragoon as a mechanic. You REMOVE choice away from those who would prefer not to. Suddenly, those who don't want Wyverns can't be Dragoons.

Addtionally, you remove choice from yourself, as you would loose the depth the Mount System is promising.

Think: All of the options available for Chocobos or say Magitek Armors would be availabe for Wyverns then. Colors, Move-sets, Personalities, training (maybe even breeding). All of that depth would have to be much MUCH more toned down if you tie it to Dragoon specifically, because it would have to be balanced against Dragoons, AND against other classes, instead of balanced on its own against other battle-ready mounts.

I don't want the tack-on version of Wyverns. Rather I would add to the depth of the mount system by including them there, further encouraging the developers to create a system for us to feel as if we truly have a partner in battle.

You'd still be able to have that Wyvern as part of the Dragoon's image if you truly wish. I personalty don't think I would be any less of a Dragoon for preferring a Magitek Armor mount over a Wyvern. But I do not wish to be married to a small (even if admittedly cute) drake flying around me just so I can call myself a Dragon Knight.

You're taking that choice away from me if you force the FFXI style Dragoon or anything similar on me. It's a matter of more choice, verses less choice from my perspective.

No we arent pushing for freya or kain, we want to be our own entity of dragoon. That's why we don't want it to have a wyvern. We just want dragoon to be like it used to be. Its time to make dragoon regain its former glory, and not depend on a wyvern "OH wyvern died There goes my 1/3 of my damage."

What the class dragoon is implementing is to become the dragon it self. With breath attacks of a dragon, claw attack of a dragon, and leap in to the air AKA FLYING LIKE A DRAGON, fierce like a dragon scary. not a dragon hugger.

I agree with everything that you've said. But the problem is however not that it's too early for hybrid classes, the problem is that the current job for for LNC is dragoon. If it was something like a lance knight it would be fine, because a lance knight can still wield a lance and be a full DD without a pet. However if you take away the wyvern from drg then we lose what we learned to love about the FFXI drg. Even by releasing a job in the future with a pet wyvern won't be the same without the drg look and abilities.

I LIKED the idea of a dragon assisting a dragoon. But it never really made sense. I am for no pet and would love DRG to be a wonderfully balanced class that can kick(in this case poke) some booty!

For a good compromise how about some sort of pet that doesn't auto attack but merely looks cool when you do a WS or something. Or just have the dragon appear out of no where from the sky and breath fire on the enemy for a special attack

Over all dragon support I believe would be nice, but not in the form of a pet who splits my damage output and can die right away. And a dragon mount sounds cool.

You are being ignorant, I have played most FF games fyi and FFXI just happened to have dragoon option that I liked best (with room for certain balance improvements). Just because it doesn't clinch with your view on dragoon does not make it any less worth.

A dragon knight might have been a dragonslayer in it's traditional way, but in the name itself it doesn't imply that dragoon can't be a dragon specialist, with or without assitance from a wyvern. Your point is nullified.
