    Poor show Square Enix...

Another patch, another day or two of downtime... I've played a lot of online games and although I've always seen these kind of issues occur, I've never seen them appear as often as they do on FFXIV. This happens every time a patch is released and it's always the same - I might not mind so much if we got an apology or acknowledgement that it's gone wrong but instead we always get the generic we are encountering difficulties message followed by either no updates or extremely poor ones on the current situation. Obviously I know you'll always get scheduled downtime but this is crazy, it happens with every single patch - If you've got issues why not invest more into your backend systems? Or at least look like you care about the fact thousands of people aren't able to play for a service they pay for.

That seems a bit harsh since the patch only released 9 hours ago and your server only crashed less than an hour ago? I assume you're not actually counting the maintenance to actually update to 3.2 in your figures?

Really? I guess our experience differs then. I usually find the FF XIV patches go quite smoothly and I was especially amazed at just how smoothly the 3.0 launch went and I don't remember any problems with 3.1 either. I'm sure both had little problems, but nothing that stopped me from playing.

It not only has an acknowledgement about the problems with Chaos servers, but also an apology for the inconvenience. Everything you asked for.

Examples please? As mentioned above I don't remember 3.0 or 3.1 having issues and they were the biggest recent patches.

Well they update the news feed with problems and let us know they're working on them... what more do you want? Problems will always happen, you can only prepare for so much without wasting insane amounts of money on redundancy and even then things don't always work as planned.

    Also, to add, this post

Actually does explain is surprising detail what's happening. They're not writing novels because I'd assume all hands are on deck fixing it. And yes, I'm affected by this, got booted from server when I was exiting a roulette. Does it annoy me, heck yes. But it's still a bit more information abut the causes than I'm used to expect.

About preparation, I would think in this size of ball of bits many things can go wrong. If they got the login system overloaded one time they might have found a fix to it that prepares it to the load. And now it's the dungeon queues that caused it.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

Get a job, I had to come in to work and wait, and I'm still waiting to go home and play.
Get a job, go to school, take a jog, do something to your own betterment on patch day because you damn well know that an online game will have some kind of technical issue on patch day, its happened before, its happening now, AND IT WILL HAPPEN UNTILL THE HEAT DEATH OF THE UNIVERSE.

It's all a ploy to let the Balmung players catch up since Balmung exploded approximately 2 minutes after the servers were back up and was down for about an hour.

That is slightly harsh seeing how people are at a bit different times. For myself, I was at work today, got at home and had the Chaos server boot me during my limited evening playing hours. But.. wait and see. Here's hoping they get it up this evening.

Yes, because everyone is in the same time zone as you. For all you know they've just got in from work and went to play. People are understandably frustrated, and are entitled to use the forums to express so.

"Get over it!" said the players whose servers are running and fully functional.

You can log in again, took them ~1 hour.

Pretty okay if you ask me.
