I don't wanna turn this one into a instance vs non instance thread. Its kinda hard to because I'm talking about an instanced dungeon vs a non instanced one. But having instances breaks away from the world. You are no longer part of Eorzea. Your part of this 8 man small world. Claiming NMs(winning or losing) is fun. If it gets your heart beating, its a good thing, that means your excited.

It's always fun when you win, it gradually becomes not fun if you are unable to enjoy the content due to losing repeatedly.

thing is, you don't have to camp it all day, go kill it or see someone kill it come back go do something else, go out side, go do something on game, come back and kill it again, doesn't take that much time, it's a form of pve competition.

I agree with the OP I actually went on a little tour of the baby dungeon and really felt like I was back in 11. NM's , Exp Camps, Coffers/Keys and even a boss like NM. I like the instanced raids Toto/Darkhold and I like the open world content. So yeah build them up both. In SE's defense though, the Strongholds are pretty good stuff albeit a little small but from the first gate to the boss nm there is plenty of action and loot.

I like the lvl 20 dungeon also, not so much because its open world, it'd work pretty much the same if it were instanced, but as the OP said there is a good bit to be done inside, different levels and the final boss has a cool pop system.

I don't think we need another lvl 20 dungeon though, we have a gapping hole between toto-rak and DD so I'm hoping the instances added in 1.21 will be 30-35 and 35-40.

I would also like to see SE add level caps on these dungeons (and the previous ones) just to make them more challenging, remove the timers as well please.

What good would a big dungeon like that be if it was instanced. It would be dull to not see anyone around
If you are in there with 3 or 7 other people what really does it matter, Shposhae will most likely be converted to an instanced with 2.0 maybe before so don't hold your breath.

I think they need to go back to redesign DD also, add some puzzles or maybe unique spawn events, ie kill a group of mobs to spawn a boss or find an item to unlock a door to a new boss.

Toto-rak is more interesting than the lvl 45 dungeon and its kind of disappointing.

Darkhold might need to be re-balanced so less end-game focused groups can make it through. Especially with the equipment falling a distant second to crafted gear with Materia.

Open world maze would be amazingly awesome that is super hard to get through, might take like a year to map out big. Then they could make an instance one that randomly generates every time you go in it!~

The Low level Dungeon is by far the best of the Three. Like the OP I also wish It had a wider level range rather than being all the same.

I also agree that DD needs to be redone. Less of a Speed run and more of a Challenge run. I'm ok with a timer, but there is no reason for you to have to just not fight anything the whole time to win..

Shposhae had some pretty cool things going for it: several different NM's, one of which had a certain spawn condition; coffer keys, large with multiple levels, and I liked how the wisp enemies would follow a trail and gather around the clams, and you couldn't kill them until they respawned out of the clams.

My only complaint is that visually, it looked identical to Cassiopeia Hollow and Mistbeard Cove, which really ruined a lot of the appeal for me. I could understand if this game was on an older-gen console, but a PC game shouldn't have that kind of limitation.

If treasure hunting was ever implemented, I could see Sphoshae being a good hunting area. I'd love being able to hunt down Mistbeard's treasure, and then possibly run into him (or his ghost...?) and other pirates who are after it, and have to fight through everything before claiming it myself!

I also really like Shposhae (the level 20 dungeon). Honestly, it's one of the few places in the game that I feel has a sense of place. I'm all for more Shposhae!
