    Great game

I enjoy ffxiv. I like the leves a bit, but i'd prefer a party flag. There's xp parties to be found to go out and grind, though I prefer the pull to camp type xp party. Maybe it'll change, or maybe I'll get used to it in time. Far from horrible, keeps you on your toes, you don't need <scall13> to wake the blm up. I wish I had a mog house, I don't really care for switching jobs on the fly. But it's not terrible, so I'll deal with it. I wish my gtx280 video card could put out 60fps on high settings with all options @ 1920x1200. I will settle for slightly higher than average settings, at 40fps, because the game is still beautiful, and that just means it'll get better when I get a better video card. Fishing, way different than ffxi, and I really liked ffxi's. But I've gotten the hang of it, just can't take my eye off of it for a second or I'll lose my catch. Great big world to explore, and plenty of people in towns, with a good ls with plenty of active players. No gripes there.

Fall 2003: A buddy comes over with Final Fantasy XI, and it'll be "great". I said "but i've been playing everquest for almost 4 years now." He says to me "just try it." So I did, I gave it a chance. The interface was so clunky! There was only one chat window! you had to scroll through a ton of crap to get your spell, no mashing. wasd was the worst movement in hte world. I was totally lost, and a lot of players were foreign and I didn't speak their language. I barely played the first few months. Then my friend says "get a controller and play it like ff7, not like eq." So I did. I'll admit, it was a lot easier to control, but the change from eq was so radical. There was just such a huge gap, I coudln't get used to it for the life of me. The action house? But I don't know how much it costs. I have to guess a number and hope it's enough? And I might overpay, by thousands? But in eq I could just go to the nexus, bring up my search window, find what I wanted, find who had it cheapest, and run to him to buy it. When I died, I didn't have to retrieve my corpse? And what's up with one character playing all the classes, that's what alts are for. No bags? how are you going to keep anything organized?

Sure, some things in ffxiv aren't perfect, but a lot of things people are merely complaning because they're different. And different isn't always bad, or good, sometimes it's just different. I could have screamed at the devs to "fix" ffxi and make it eq, or I could adapt to a new world and a different set of rules. 8 years later my xi account is still active. It's lasted longer than my marriage did... Which gave me a bonus account, so I have 2 active now. I don't log in much, because the gameplay is not my style anymore, all end game raiding, meh. I didn't take 3+ years for my first 75 for nothing. I'm sure this will fall upon deaf ears, but please stop complaining about things because they're "different" from ffxi, and keep your complaints to actual bugs. Personally, I haven't seen a "bug" in ages, and I do leves, xp, explore, etc. It's not perfect, but change happens. I'll play the game regardless. There's plenty for me do, I'm having fun.

So all the nasty threads that are all I see, it's why I check the forum less and less.

I just have to say I love your positive outlook on that (b'.')b

And I agree, I love this game with all it's quirks. I joined recently, so to me this is all new, I've not played an MMO like this before and I'm thoroughly enjoying the 'learn while you leve' experience. I never saw the original 'incarnation' of how this game operated so much of what people shout about I don't understand.

But you absolutely right, people need to calm down, talk about things in a calm manner, if they want change they should put it into the form of suggestions of ideas, not raging and insulting and demands. I did and so far I've only received positive comments about it

And one thing I've learned from other MMO's: Adapt To Change. If you are not prepared to adapt to any changes the game makes, be it quickly or over a long period of time, it will leave you behind, because the whole purpose of it being an online game is that it is capable of growing and evolving, something no single player game can do.

Also, the last bug I encountered was when I passed through the floor in La Noscea and was running around about 6 feet under the floor. Easily remedied with the 'return' function. Had another one whilst changing gear as well where the camera locked itself about 5 inches from the floor and the only other view it offered was the first person view. My character was still standing above-ground but no amount of zooming in and out and changing camera options would make it go back to third person. Also easily remedied by logging out then back in again. Can't say I've ever really complained about a bug though, I usually just ignore them, you don't see them often enough for them to be a problem.

Dear fellas, I can't believe how fast things move on the outside. I saw a chocobo carriage once when I was a kid, but now they're everywhere. The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry. The parole board got me into this halfway house called "Carline Canopy" and a job bagging groceries at the Whistling Miller. It's hard work and I try to keep up, but my hands hurt most of the time. I don't think the store manager likes me very much. Sometimes after work, I go to the park and feed the birds. I keep thinking Jake might just show up and say hello, but he never does. I hope wherever he is, he's doin' okay and makin' new friends. I have trouble sleepin' at night. I have bad dreams like I'm falling. I wake up scared. Sometimes it takes me a while to remember where I am. Maybe I should get me a gun and rob the Whistling Miller so they'd send me home. I could shoot the manager while I was at it, sort of like a bonus. I guess I'm too old for that sort of nonsense any more. I don't like it here. I'm tired of being afraid all the time. I've decided not to stay. I doubt they'll kick up any fuss. Not for an old crook like me.

That sounds incredibly familier... you've quoted that from somewhere and I can't remember where! >.<

I think it's either Clockwork Orange or from David Bowie's Outside album...

    Gah that's gonna bug me

It just gave me a GREAT idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ok, so here goes.

What if, out of each town, there were chocobo drawn carraiges. And they traveled the path to/from some far area, like say from uldah to the ocean port, or gridania to, well, somewhere far as hell. And they'd only fit 12 people per cart. and there could be 2, circling. And you could pay 1k to ride. It would ride at a speed half way between chocobo and person. That would be super!

A feature like this was supposed to be in FFXIV at some point. Quests involving carriages were mentioned too.

Musketeers being implimented, Pugilist gear resembling a pirate, chocobo theme sounding like a 'wild west remix' and chocobo-drawn carriages travelling the desert wastes?

I'd better start practicing my "We be hijacking this train ye long-eared galoote" impressions!
I SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING!!!

It's Brooks' monologue from The Shawshank Redemption. For some reason, it's all I could think of when reading OP's post.

That's weird, I've never seen that film yet the quote sounds so familier.

    Very strange O.o'

What's very strange is that you have never seen The Shawshank Redemption that film officially spawned an entire industry known as Morgan Freeman voiceovers.
