Suggestion: housing rotation

I am told that once someone purchases a home, he will keep it even if he quits the game.

On Zalera there is not a single small lot left, there is a few medium ones and prices start at about 8m.

I would like to propose some kind of rotation system. At the very least free the lots from people who didn't subscribe in a long time. How much housing is lost to dead accounts right now?

Housing as a feature is surely meant to be used by the player. Not to sit and do nothing on an inactive account.

That or expand the housing park. But that is not a long term solution.

Sorry if I seem a bit insensitive, but its something that happens pretty often. Its why we don't get issues resolved, instead of having them fizzle out due to diluted interests.

True enough. I'm beginning to view this as SE slowly wearing down my patience by their inability to rectify any of the current issues. in the past 6 months, I have gone form an SE enthusiast, then to one of their defenders, then to a suggestion maker, then to a nonplussed debater, then to a tired beggar, then to a dissatisfied customer, then to an active rebel, till im just run down and tired of people wasting their time, when its become obvious SE isn't listening to a single thing we are saying, if it doesn't include the words "You could take more of my money without spending more resources if..".

I already cancelled my pre-order, because Se didn't deserve any money from me for not satisfying my needs. that's the only thing they might listen to.

As for the OP: I think this is a very good idea but I don't think there are any plans for it to be implemented.

A unified front will more likely bear fruit than a slew of good posts scatted across 30 threads. Check out the JP forums, they have had several posts numbering in a hundred plus pages. With that kind of activity in a single thread you can imagine it's hard for the community team to ignore. On topic however it would be nice to see them clear out a few dead lots.

OR... they could open up more housing wards / instanced housing servers. If there are not enough affordable plots, then make some wards that only offer small houses, or reduce the cost of the housing again. Or make it instanced and you could "build the house to your desired size or add on as you go" in your own instanced plot.

But I know if I left for a few months, I'd be mad if I came back and all my hardwork/gil spent vanished into the void...

I do agree that SE needs to hurry up and provide us with some information on what they intend to do. Because silence is only chasing away customers.

They could deposit the gil used to purchase the house on your character, or FC chest depending on which it belonged to, doesn't have to vanish into nothing.

That could also work, but will they refund/return all the furnishings too :P
I still think instanced housing would be a good idea. Just an idea. There is no easy fix for this thats true,. but some kind of outline or gameplan would be nice to hear from SE.

Yep, instanced housing would have been perfect. Hoped that the airships would have been that (fly up into the sky somewhere and have a floating airship house sorta thing).
