Problem is, IMO, with update checking, not with real update. In yours case, you have latest version, but launcher still will does checking (launcher check for update after every login, before game will launch).
So If I wipe and reinstall the whole thing, it might fix this? I don't really want to have to go through hours of reinstallation if it won't help![]()

In my case (and few people also) full reinstall resolved problem. But there is no guarantee, that next update/hotfix in future will be free of that problem (messing files with version numbers).
I think the PSN versions aren't redeemable yet the lodestone says the windows version is could that be the problem?

No. Problem is with application bug (launcher?) that messing local files (on PS4 and PC). On PC you can edit these files (solution in other thread), on PS4 - you cant editing local files. Source of game is non important. Problem is with and without HS addon.
So I deleted everything and re-ran the updates. Finished installing and it has now let me log in.
I've re-downloaded the HW update and it says it's going to take about an hour to download. Earlier it only took a few minutes.
I think perhaps the problem was with the original download not completing correctly. I'm able to log in and play at least, I'll update again once the HW download has downloaded and installed
