Master Crafting Books II, Rotation help please!!

Can anyone help me out with some recommendations or info on crafting the HQ items needed for the master crafting book II's please ?

I have managed to craft one balanced darksteel hook HQ out of about 50 and I am really struggling to get a solid successful rotation

I have all crafting classes at 50 so have access to all skills and also have all artisan gear and a Supra weapon, but the most I have managed quality wise is 36%

    Thank you in advance

    This really helps: http://www.ffxivcrafter.com/crafting.php

    specifically about the hooks: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...ion_guide_for/

I find that Google really helps you find this stuff. i just did "balanced darksteel hook HQ rotation" as my search and got all these links.

There is no "rotation", plenty of help on the crafting sub forum. Use all good conditions, HT spam and act accordingly to cp.

Aslong as your not stupid with cp and rng is playing ok these arent that difficult

Are you fishing for good/excellent on BB phase?

Whats your current method, are using food?

Im sorry to say but 36% out of 50 attempts is quite poor unless your literally getting bent over by rng

These are pretty stupid, you HAVE to have a good or excellent on byregots most of the time.

Not sure how people have the patience to do these for all of them, I just did weaver and cul.

There is no real "rotation". What you do is going to depend on how lucky you are with Hasty Touch, "Good" procs, and how much you're able to fish for a Good/Excellent for Byregot's (sometimes you'll have the CP to spare to do this, a lot of times you won't)

I forget how much CP I had to start but if you have melded Artisan gear and Supra then you definitely will have enough. Use HQ Bouillabaise for bonus CP. I believe I did something along the lines of:

    Comfort Zone
    Inner Quiet
    Peace by Peace x 2
    Steady Hand 2
    Hasty Touch x 5
    Master's Mend 2

(using Tricks of the Trade procs and refreshing Comfort Zone once when it runs out)

Basically try to get Inner Quiet as high as possible then fish for a good/excellent condition on Byregot's Blessing towards the end. You can increase progress with SH2 + Rapid Synthesis and/or Ingenuity 2. The abilities I used to fish for better condition were: Great Strides, Ingenuity 2, Rapid Synthesis, and/or Innovation.

I actually didn't have my Supra when I went for the MW2 books, so my first 5 NQ were put to that purpose, but you can also use Reclaim if things look bad (too many failed Rapid Synthesis, Piece by Piece, or Hasty Touch).

I agree that it was a pain. I did about 1 weapon per week and each Supra + MW2 book took about 2 hours. At least Lucis tools are a lot easier. I am only 2 away from having them all.

Edit: Maybe it only took 1 hour, 2 seems kind of long. I know I didn't have to do many more than the 8 required for the Supra and MW2 book.

what patience? it's quicker to do than lucis tokens.. 1 Bouillabaisse (30min) is enough to get 2 sets of tokens (6hq total) most of the time.
Good condition procs about 20% of the time, if you're baiting the entire duration of your Great Strides (3 turns) that will usually result in a successful bait.

If you only made 8, and a few reclaims in between, that's about a dozen crafts.. Each takes about 2 minutes in my experience, it shouldn't take you more than 30 min per session..

I admit, the first manual I did was gut wrenching because I was so afraid to lose the FC3s, so it's incredibly memorable and feels like it took an eternity to do.. I think I got my first one done in about 40 min.. I ran out of Bouillabaisse and had to use it for 2 more crafts.. I feel like people generally exaggerate about the manual II tokens (not on purpose). I admit they're not the easiest things to make, but it's really not that difficult either.. It's like Tex, when you first get there it looks like chaos but once you get it down, it's bleh.

    Rotation I was using was:

Comfort Zone - Inner Quiet - Piece by Piece - Piece by Piece - Steady Hand II - Waste Not - Rapid Synthesis - Hasty Touch x2 - Comfort Zone (again) - Steady Hand II (again) - Hasty Touch until 5 Durability - Master's Mend II - Steady Hand II - Hasty Touch till 25 Durability - Great Strides - Innovation - Byregot's Blessing - Careful Synthesis II x2.

Keep in mind, whenever you have a "Good" proc, always ToT.
You can only ToT once if you have Waste Not up.
This was used with a Supra MH, +20 Craftsmanship + 4 CP Artisan Offhand.
HQ Bouillabaisse should bring your CP to 395-398. Depending on your melds.
If you do not have 10 or 11 stacks of Inner Quiet by the time you hit 35 durability, I suggest you reclaim.

At the ending, always fish for a Good proc. If you hit a Good proc before using Innovation and you have Great Strides up, use it.

These are totally RNG. It's stupid hard, but have patience . You'll get through it.

Tried to do a multi-reply to thank you all individually but it said I was limited to 1000 characters and was at 4000 lol

So I would like to thank you all for the advice and I am going to try out some of those recommendations on rotation and looking to score a good/excellent for BB.

I will get some time to play today, haven't been on all week because of work :/ and will keep you guys posted on my hopeful success!!

One thing you have to learn when crafting in the endgame is to let go of your preconceptions that macros and rotations are optimal.

You need to learn to let those preconceptions go. And I say that with the most sincerity I can possibly muster, because I learned the hard way that relying on macros and rotations was actually causing my crafting skill as a player to be worse.

The best thing I can suggest is that you get every single crafting class to 50, fill your cross-class slots to the brim with a series of recommended skills such as Piece by Piece, Tricks of the Trade, Byregot's Blessing, Careful Synthesis II, Hasty Touch, Rapid Synthesis, Ingenuity II, Innovation, and others.

I recommend starting every craft with the following 3 skills in order: Comfort Zone, Inner Quiet, and Steady Hand II. Be sure to use Tricks of the Trade on *EVERY* Good Condition you get.

From this point, there is variation on what you can do. You can either start by improving Progress or Quality. It is generally accepted to work on Progress first, getting it high enough so that you can complete it with a single Careful Synthesis II.

I recommend experimenting on your own with this site: http://www.ffxivcrafter.com/
