    [PS4] Physical Collector's Edition, Digital CE Content Issues, Can't Login

    I recently acquired the lovely physical Collector's Edition for the PS4 version of the game.

    However, I've run into an issue when redeeming the digital portion of the content. (The bonus rewards such as the Helm of Light, Fat Chocobo and the like) I've entered the code into PSN and redeemed the digital content on my PSN account, and it's listed under my services available for the account, but when I try to log into FFXIV on my PS4, I'm prompted to redeem the content with one of my service accounts.

    The service account I use for my PS4 however, doesn't appear as an option that can be selected. Only an inactive Windows service account that I've never used appears, and the option to make a brand new service account.

    Considering I've been playing for about half a year now on the FFXIV Service Account linked to my PSN account on PS4, and over a year on the service account as a whole, it strikes me as odd that it wouldn't appear in the list of options to register my CE content with.

    To Summarise:

    I have redeemed the code for the digital collector's edition content on PS4, on the Playstation Store and with the Playstation Network Account, so that it appears in my list of PSN services.

    When I try to log into FFXIV however, I am prompted to register the Digital CE content with a service account, but the FFXIV service account linked to my PSN that I use to play the game, does not appear as an option in the list of accounts.

    I can confirm that the FFXIV Account I want to use is active, as I still have gametime remaining on it.

    As a result of this, I currently cannot log into my account and play, unless I register the CE content with a service account I don't use, and essentially lose access to the content.

    I'm looking for a solution to this problem, or an explanation to why it occurs.

    As a side note, I'm not sure if it's relevant or not, I upgraded my account from the PS3 to the PS4 version during the free upgrade campaign last year.

    Bumping this back up since I would like to be able to log in again soon, preferably without having to lose my digital collector's edition bonuses from assigning them to a service account that isn't for my chosen platform and that I don't use. The Heavensward trailer has gotten me a tad hyped for the game.

    Managed to track down this thread where someone was having the same problem.

    Now I know why it won't work, and it seems like a terrible idea for the codes to function in this way. Who thought it was a good idea to make them only apply to new service accounts/accounts that weren't already active on the platform? Not everyone will buy the CE the moment it launches, not everyone who buys a CE will be a new player. If the code won't work because you already own the game, it needs to be outlined in the advertisements so people know, otherwise this situation happens. We're literally paying for content as part of a package that won't work because we're already fans and subscribers to the game... from what perspective is that a good idea?

    I'll be applying the bonuses to a service account I don't use for the sake of being able to log in again. If it's possible to move said bonuses over to my actual service account, I'd appreciate it. As far as marketing decisions go, this is pretty shifty to say the least.

    Hopefully this topic will help other players be better informed about this sort of thing so they can avoid this issue altogether, despite the fact that this issue shouldn't even exist.
