    They could implement Adventuring Fellows like we had in FFXI (and FFXIV 1.0 had something along the lines of it as well, forget what it's called because I never made it that far in 1.0). Or even Trusts like they added in FFXI after like a decade (NPC buddies from the game, could go around with Shantotto, Curilla, Zeid, Lion, Ayame, and Nanaa Mihgo, among many others as party members).

    It would be pretty cool if we could go adventuring with our retainers, seeing as how their max level corresponds to ours (if you have a level 5 rogue, the retainer can't get past level 5 on that class to my understanding).

    However, being able to do dungeons with a similarly leveled (and possibly well geared) NPC could negate the need to do dungeons with other people entirely, causing a dramatic shift in how players decide to tackle a duty.

    Think about it, it could potentially break the game in a way (make it so people never have to play with each other). I mean for example if I could go into content with my i100+ Conjurer and i94+ Archer retainers, and let's add my Chocobo to make it a 4 man party-- I would have no need to use the Duty Finder or Party Finder to get through low level content (prior to Brayflox at least, that's the first one where you actually need a good tank and healer). For Sastasha-Haukke, it's a cakewalk for anyone with decent gear synced down do those levels.

    I do hope they implement NPC buddies that are smarter than our Chocobos though. I like the idea, and I would love to have more uses for my retainers (going off of what I wrote), but I know there are problems with implementing it.
