Suggestion: More Gamepad Shoulder/Trigger button customization.

    Hails,
Current gamepad customization is, to say the least, minimal. In leu of full keyboard adaptation to the gamepad, please incorporate more options for the shoulder/trigger buttons.

Specifically, it is currently possible to activate crosshotbars, change crosshotbars, cycle ENEMY targets, and autorun/change veiw angle.

I suggest adding ability to adjust settings to enable cycling ALL, ALLIED, PARTY, and ENEMY targets for each trigger individually through the character customization interface or command line.

    Ex:
    /rtrig target p
    /ltrig tgt e

have you tried using custom filter sets? they don't work on the L1/R1 button, but instead with the d-pad. they are still quite useful, though. i especially like how they made it show the face button for the currently selected filter. no more forgetting which set is active.

    You. Must. Be. Kidding.

The D-pad method of selecting entities is a well-thought out method of being extremely cumbersome, because of the number of button presses required to seemingly simple tasks. For example:

In a party of 8' if you are the healer, (default #1) the tank is default 2 and 3, and so on; prior to any big fight covering everyone in stoneskin is common for WHMs. To do this (let's count the number of button presses) you must:

Activate the cross hotbar (ACHB) 1
Cast spell (C) on current target 2
    Deactivate the crosshotbar (DCHB) 3
    press down (dn) 4
    ACHB 5
    C 6
    DCHB 7
    dn 8
dn 9 (additional down presses, or hitting the select button are required as you go thru the party
    ACHB 10
    C 11
    DHCB 12
    dn 13
    dn 14
    dn 15
    ACHB 16
    ...

That's 16 button presses, so far, and the 4th dude in our 8 man party still doesn't have stoneskin.

    TBC, next thread.

With the suggestion, party select only on one shoulder button removes the need to ACHB/DCHB, which was 6 needless uses of those 16 button presses. further, since shoulder buttons hard target every time, there is no need for additional cycling thru (extra dn or select button presses for) party members.

TL;DR- Without suggestion (currently) non-enemy selection takes 2x+ as many button presses than with suggestion.

yeah i see what you are saying. hm. well i have played this game on console since launch. and i main a WHM since day1. so i am aware of how much must be done in order to Stoneskin an entire "Full Party". but i suppose having to press all them buttons is just something you get used to over time. and steadily become more efficient at. eventually you won't even notice you are fondling the controller. :P

also, i am not sure why you hit down so much. select your target after highlighting it, if you plan on continuing down the list to pass out a buff. also, the L2/R2 aren't actually buttons. and most people would use either their middle or index finger to press/squeeze those. so unless you use either of those fingers for d-pad/face buttons, i don't think those presses can actually be counted.

either way, i wasn't trying to knock your idea down. it would most certainly be very useful. but until they improve game-pad functionality... you'll just have to use a keyboard for the quickest possible targeting time. but don't hold your breath. :/

I'm getting the impression radioactive_lego is using either the Press (?) or Mixed option for activating hotbars, not the Hold option. So hotbars stay up after simply pressing R2/L2, until R2/L2 is pressed again to close the hotbar, rather than staying up only while R2/L2 is held in and disappearing when they're let go.

This option would be miles and miles more useful with that setting, I think. At least for me, using the Hold option, it doesn't break the flow that much to let go of the trigger, hit a button or two, then hold in the trigger again.

But if you're keeping the hotbars up on a single trigger press with the other setting, it must be maddening to have to turn them off, target/confirm/whatever, then turn them back on, etc.

Really, though, either way, I don't see the harm in adding this as an option.

10 posts per page is only the default setting; it is bad, and you should feel bad if you haven't changed it.

I use mixed. I've tried hold as well, but that just leads to finger strain.

My ability to select non-enemies is not isolated either. Quick searches led me to:
