Putting FCs and individuals in competition was probably the biggest mistake. Can't find a personal plot? Well, you're not any worse off than before the patch. But if a FC wants to buy a house and finds that all the plots are taken up by individuals...

I would not be surprised if, after the new wards are added, rich players start buying up all the plots and selling them to FCs/individuals for insane markups.

Making a FC doesn't cost anything, and if you can buy a personal house, that shouldn't be a problem if you're in an FC then either.

They should've just implemented a cap on the houses you can own. Someone on my server has like 8 houses, all small/medium. And put a minimum level requirement of 50 to buy them, and a quest chain involved, so people can't just infinitely spawn alts to get around that cap.

That's nearly in place already, except the level requirement is 47 rather than 50. Purchasing a house requires being a second lieutenant in your Grand Company, and unlocking that promotion requires a level 47 quest (as well as a few previous quests and several dungeons to complete the GC hunting logs and whichever content you use to earn all the GC seals needed).

    Actually it is level 50.

    Requirements to buy a House

Character with level 50 in 1 of the classes.
Second Lieutenant in 1 of the Grand Companies.

Each character that met the requirements can purchase 1 unowned plot of any size, within any Ward.

So technically Sensu, the level requirement is 50 and there is a long quest chain involved which is your Grand Company quests.

What they should have done was limited the housing to 1 house per SE account per server.

Well, when I reached Second Lieutenant at level 48, the game told be that Personal Housing has been unlocked (with the fanfare music and big yellow lettering across the center of the screen that it uses on feature unlocks). And the next time I entered a housing area, it repeated that statement (though smaller and by the chat box this time). I haven't tried actually buying one as I'm still saving up money, but I'm pretty sure I could if I had the gil for it.

From the official 2.38 Patch Notes - http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...6869b10e012e57

    - Purchasing Land
In order to purchase land, a character must first have attained level 50 in at least one class and also have earned the rank of second lieutenant in one of the Grand Companies. Each character meeting these requirements can purchase a single unowned plot via the placards found within the residential districts.
Plots of any size and within any ward may be purchased.

Interacting with a placard and selecting Purchase Land will bring up an option to buy the plot as either an individual or free company purchase.

Tanking is a job, DPSing is a science and Healing is an art.
If the Tank dies, it's the Healer's fault. If the Healer dies, it's the Tank's fault. If the DPS dies, it's their own damn fault.
