FFXI had a lot of copy/paste look at Rise of the zilart the towers on every floor was copy paste then you see them again in Beaucedine tower Most caves where copy paste Sky also was full of copy/Paste, COP area, Whitegate. Top of that the last pack for FFXI was just a big copy/paste of the area we know but just in the pass but ppl did not care much about it did we?
FFXIV is full of copy/paste but the problem is size FFXIV would be port to ps3 and they have to worry about the ppl who have 40GB HDD which i think no one should have it does not cost a lot to buy a HDD. But if they did not copy/paste the load on our PC/PS3 would be big to load every lil thing in the area diff type of flowers, sand, anything you can think about.
FFXI Vs FFXIV i think i'm more happy having Zones for ffxiv if that means we could get less copy / paste. I did not mind zones that much in ffxi with now FFXIV allowing us to zone and still get chat from /tell /p /l zones would not be a big problem in ffxiv.
I agree with the ppl saying cut the area and add more zone and make them looks different.

The best thing they could do is to just add more to the zones, give it some decorations and maybe add some lore to it.

I believe they overdid the copy/paste but they explained why they copy/pasted which had something to do with the amount of data it took up since the graphics are so high or something like that. Zones should probably get some new additions but i don't want them to worry much about that for about a year or so. If the game had more content and things to do most would also ignore it. Now the new zones and dungeons they should not continue this mistake.

The starter zones in FFXI didn't seem so copy/pasted. They just got lazy and complacent. I'm for a redesign.
They are if you look hard enough. They use the same tree over 50 times in ronfaure. Same grass mesh. Only difference is one got a pond, one gots a river. Which is similar to windy. which has a river is a similar pattern. Which again is like north gustemburg. Oh and both. All three cities had similar looking ports with fisherman npcs. Oh and every airship and ferry was the same.
Yet no one complain about how lol copy and pasyed the aitships were. Or how lol copy and pasted the character customisation or how lol copy and pasted all the weapon skills were set ups were.
I really don't understand how you can say you didn't notice copy & paste graphics in FFXIV and say at the same time that it was so obvious in FFXI. In FFXI I could travel through most zones without even looking at my map once to see where I was, because there were landmarks everywhere. All I do in FFXIV is checking my mini-map to go from point A to point B since everything looks the same. The camps are the same, the areas are the same, I just need to walk 10 malms to be back to the same place I was 3 minutes ago. They are if you look hard enough. The main difference is that we don't have to look "hard enough" in FFXIV to notice the copy/pasted terrain as it is obvious and clear. Now indeed, and obviously there were copied stuff in FFXI but they never bothered me because every place was different and unique. Since the alpha, all I see is we have 5 huge regions and that's it, no lore, no uniqueness, no magic, nothing. When I started in Limsa and saw the names of the camps, like Cedarwood for example. I thought cool I am going to see something different in this area, cedars here and there. But no, nothing differs, this camp feels like every other camp. Blackbrushes around Camp Blackbrush ? A small pond and magical bushes near Camp Tranquil ? Old bones à la Tahrongi Canyon around Camp Drybone ?
They wouldn't have to change that much, but take for example the red flowers you see when you walk to Camp Tranquil, you almost never see anything special in any area that when I walk by these flowers, first I know where I am, then I am thrilled to see something different. Wouldn't you be happy seeing an oasis when walking in a neverending desert ?
As for character customisation, it's not that different from the one in FFXI, we don't have that many choices. And about weapon skills, the character animations were indeed copied but the weapon skill animation in itself was enough to have us not being bothered. If I look at my lancer now, seeing that my low rank weapon skill looks the same as my rank 50 is just not acceptable.

Yep I have to agree with the other people. A lot of places, especially in Gridania, looks the same. You take a right turn, oh! dejavu, and then you take a left turn, oh! dejavu.
Some areas are still a little bit empty though, even if there's mobs running around, It somehow doesn't feel right at some point. I'd have a problem with to resize the maps and give them some diversity.
But that's a lesser problem SE has at the moment, sadlyThey got such a big chunk to swallow and fix everything it's terryfiying!
Seriously Why?

I saw a vid doing a walk through around gridania. I just don;t see what you mean. It has hall ways, but I expect that in a mossy town deep in a forrest. I saw a stage for possible bards to perform at. All the vairous guilds. I like it actually its pretty. Makes me think of windy if they moved it inside the boyahda tree. which my your lots standers copy and pastesed.
