Although I agree with many of the posts above, I really think Abriael is right and at this point it is highly unrealistic to demand a complete redesign of the world. There are more urgent matters to take care of.

They will probably improve the quality when they release new areas but I doubt they will change the existing ones.

It is simply obvious that the ffxi environment and zones were far more beautiful and tantalizing than the mysterious yet short experience you get by walking through 3 or 4 zones in ffxiv.

They should chop the zones up into like 6-7 pieces each and redesign the pieces one at a time. Lock them off with invisible walls while they're still being redesigned. The world size right now is plenty huge and most of the space is unused. If they leave the world as it is they will be trying to fill this huge world via breadcrumb updates. One zone in XIV is like the size of an entire world other MMOs release with, this really is excessive.

Since there's like no content in the game right now it's a good time to chop them up so they dont have to go changing quests and stuff later. I'm pretty sure they will have to do this eventually either way.

It's really only annoying when you have to travel large distances and there aren't any unique landmarks along from point A to point B. If they added more stuff into the zones, it wouldn't be that much of an issue. But when you travel from one look alike camp (besides the npcs) to another with only the copy pasted scenery to look at, it does get annoying.

I hope that in time they will fill the world with landmarks, unique scenery, and npcs so that this won't be as annoying as it is now.

I agree with the maps needing more diversity and the level of the mobs should be weaker in the starting zones but get stronger as you branch out.

It can get confusing when you're wandering through the black shroud and you come across the same intersection multiple times in multiple places. This is done in most every game (including FFXI), though it's usually less obvious. Take a stroll through Yughott Grotto in Vanadiel some day, you'll see the mesh re-use. It's definitely a cost/development time savings, though if abused, leads to a repetitive looking world.

Demacia, there's lore throughout the game, but you really have to search for it. There are NPCs all around that will tell you things about the world, though I agree that it's not very accessible or plentiful. Check out Little Ala Mhigo if you haven't been.

There too much green everywhere, so yeah the JP are right and I think the majority will notice that everywhere you go, it GREEN, GREEN, GREEN due to so much copy paste of tree and hill.

You know, a forest tends to have a certain palette ranging between brown and green.

    Exactly like Gridania.

Of course you can have pink forests too, but I'm not sure if I'd like those in FFXIV...
