I'm 80% convinced they held back on both the lyrics in Ultima (phase 2) and the Praetorium because they have in them keys to the nature of and story about the Archons and the Garlean Empire (respectively).

Soken himself said that he was given very, very direct instructions about all (?) of the compositions, and what the design team expected from them. For Titan they famously told him to have fun and do as he liked, and you all know the result (pardon me while I stifle a Lutete-sized yawn, but hey, there's no accounting for taste). Insofar as that's true, then the lyrics must have been straight from the departments that are directing the story.

Maybe we can attract some attention over here from some of the Lore threads of folks who are interested in the future of the storyline ...
