PVP gear... what happened with it?

So awhile back, we were often teased that gear such as the Paladin armor in the above link would be something you could get in game through PVP. Each class had its own animalish gear... but as far as I've seen, that never happened? Why is this?

2.25 sounds to me like a big balance/matchmaking update, and not really much of an update to the PvP systems/content themselves.

I expect that these armors are for the Frontlines large-scale PvP system, which is a major feature I wouldn't expect to see in a minor patch like 2.25. More likely, Frontlines will be a big feature highlight for the next content patch, 2.3, along with personal housing and the next Crystal Tower raid.

I thought the next patch was supposed to add the golden saucer? Where are people getting info like this?

The content patches (2.1, 2.2, 2.3) are released every three months and add several major features. I seriously doubt the Gold Saucer content will be enough to comprise the entire patch.

We know the next patch will add more Crystal Tower because they announced long ago that their plan for endgame content was to alternate every patch (2.0=Binding Coil, 2.1=CT, 2.2=Second Coil, 2.3=CT part 2, etc.). Personal Housing was confirmed for 2.3 in a recent Famitsu interview. The Frontlines system was confirmed for 2.3 during the last Live Letter.

Looking at the live letter summary, it seems that the armor you were asking about is actually indeed coming in 2.25 ("The animal series will be implemented in 2.25" from the page I just linked in the previous paragraph), but if it's not a Frontlines reward like they mentioned previously then I have no idea how it'll be earned. I hope it's not a reward for reaching rank 40 or something, because these 4v4s became stale quite a while ago.
