PvP Rewards

Forgive me if I sound idiotic, but I am rather new to the world of FFXIV, and even newer to the PvP feature.
I have not yet attained Lv.50 on my main class, and I do wish to delve into PvP regularly. However, I do not know how I am supposed to be able to do that efficiently. Let me explain:
No where online can I find an answer to this question:
What is the point? What is the point of PvP prior to Lv.50 if I cannot get any rewards until 50? Why do we unlock this feature when all I do is get roflstomped because of lack of gear (and being the primary burn focus, a healer).
Is there gear I can acquire at this level? If so, where?

Well, when you queue for the level 30-40 Wolves Den as a level <50 you a small amount of experience, rank up your abilities in the same way you would normally, and earn wolf marks, which'll eventually be used at level 50. You're right that there's nothing to use wolf marks for prior to that though. In the 30/40 tiers if you're wearing gears above the level of that arena they'll be synced down the the equivalent of a normal quality gear about 2 levels less (needs confirming) than the arena, so if a guy in full ilvl 90 PvP gears goes into level 30 PvP, he'll be wearing the equivalent of ilvl 28 in there. For this reason if you're wearing gear appropriate to that level then you have an advantage over them. Unfortunately healers don't get many of the tools they need to survive until 40+, and after obtaining a few PvP skills, which requires you to PvP.

I'm assuming you're healer (durr hurr you are, I reread your post)if according to your profile info there so let me say that you absolutely have to have swiftcast and surecast on your bar if you don't already.

The main thing you'll get for 30/40 pvp outside of wolf marks for level 50 gear is pvp xp for skills. You will probably want to invest in purify first then attunement or sacred prism but really that's up to you and how you want to spend your points as resets cost marks as well. Most people who gear up for low level pvp will craft the a level 40 HQ armor set and load it up with materia since that apparently gives the best stat bonuses compared to what level sync does to you normally.

Healer is probably the hardest role to play so don't get discouraged if you have a streak of bad games. Everyone has their first time so we've all been there.

The pvp stat (morale) doesn't work in low level arena (alias 30s and 40s). So there is no need of pvp gears until 50. Even more, as already said, Pve gears of the arena lvl are better than highter ilvl gear because of the way synchronization is made.

As already said, farming arena can get you some wolf marks and pvp xp which would help you for 50s arena where morale is taking into account.

As a BRD would it be viable to use the i70 PVP bow for the morale boost or stick with Elfin Bow for level 50 matches?

The same point as pve or anything else. To waste time, deter boredom, and for the latest generation, as a means to bully back outside of real life.

Like anything in any game, your not going to do well under prepared (read: no gear) therein lies your answer. To get practice and get gear.

Tbh pvp doesn't belong in ff. And gear doesn't make that big a difference, to be honest even pve wise gear benefits are minuscule compared to skill by such a degree it can't be overstated.

There is a science to gearing up in the wolves den pre level 50.

The Wolves den is just that.. the WOLVES den, you are fresh meat being thrown to the WOLVES... It's going to be brutal, there is no other way around it. All who enter have to do their time in hell....don't despair.. just keep queuing and keep looking forward.

And gear doesn't make that big a difference

Gear makes an astronomical difference, especially when you finally get rank 30 gear. The entire premise of advantage in PVP is a stat called morale, the pvp system in FF revolves around a gear grind.
