Level 40 Bracket Twinking.

As you all may know by now. And I feel there is a need to share this knowledge. Starting out PvPing as of now at the Lvl50 Bracket is suicidal and most people have fell back to Lvl 40 bracket to take morale out of the equation.

With that said this particular thread will go through on how to get pimped in the 40s bracket. Do note that whilst most of the equipments can be bought, some require luck to obtain and others require you to have a favorable dice with Lady Luck.

First and foremost we will go through the Sync system. The current system works as such, if you have a gear which is Equip level above 40 it will be sync down to iLvl 38-39 range, posses only 1 sub-stat (Priority on the highest sub-stat), and iLvl 40 DMG, negate all melded materia.

So you're asking how does it pick substat? Say you have a Spear which has 12 ACC 11 Crit 10 Det. For that item lets say their substat cap is 15-16 range. The system will pick Det as the substat because it has the highest ilevel weight. If 2 substat of equal weighting occurs (ACC, Crit, Sk Spd, Sp Spd) the system will always pick Acc > Crit > Sk/Sp Spd.

Now to move on to twinking. As you all may have know penta-melding HQ crafted gear is the best option but there is another avenue to obtain gear stronger than Penta-melded HQ craftables. The source is Silver Chest from Camp Bluefog Levequest in Northern Thanalan.

As far as my observation, <Don't Forget to Cry> Leve usually give me a Silver Chest 1 out of 3 times. Within this chest there is a chance of getting Ilvl 40-43 gear with Equip level of 40. Which are bar none the strongest Twink gear available but still require some luck to get what item you want and perfect sub-stat. Thus far I've known these are the best gear available from the chest. (I normally do the quest at a level of 40)

Other crappy Ilvl 40 <DoW/DoM> May or may not be stronger than Penta-melded HQ items.

Next we go over GC items. under good circumstances you'd want to get the GC weapon and pair it with the gloves they have to get the 2 set bonus. Sad to say MRDs need to use GC weapons as there is no better alternative. And by most, Twin Adder stuff are the best for Lvl 40 PvP.

Accessories will have to do with HQ crafted (Req 38 Ilvl 38) pentamelded. DoW people can go with the Vit Bracelet (Except BRDs cause the Dex is cap at 3, same as DoM which all stat is capped at 3). DoM people will have to pick what they want and Vit meld it.

Now we go through some things which are good on the market board where you don't have to go through the cruelty of RnG. First of all PLDs have it good cause they have option to get Goblin Gladius (Ilvl 43), Vintage Scutum (Ilvl 43). MRD/PLD/DRG can also but Vintage Celata (Ilvl 43). Pentamelded 37 HQ belt is better than the strongest available in Cutter's Cry for DoWs.

Do take note that DEF has no effect on PvP so you won't really miss the drop in armor class. Next we have WHM's Vintage Cane (Ilvl 41).

Though at Lvl 40 PvP i'd really suggest casters to go with the Shield combo with high Spell Speed + Parry. Owing to the fact that for every attack Parried/Block no matter the damage reduction it will prevent spell cancellation, provided your target is within a 45 degree arc in front of you to trigger it. Pair it with equanimity you can really cast and take a little more beating.

So there you have it your Level 40 Bracket Twink guide. If there is thing that I might have missed out do tell, and if it is verified I will add into the post. Though I still feel I might have missed something out.

Man you are awesome; I have been looking for definitive info on the i43 weapons for days now. I spammed like 30 battle leves at Bluefog last night with no luck on any i43 weapons, but I purposely avoided "Don't Forget to Cry" because it seemed to take the longest of all the leves and I assumed that the chest spawn would be similarly random for all leves (yet to be proven or disproven definitively). In those 30 leves, I had maybe 13 red chests (crap item) and 6 blue chests (aetherial); the 6 blue chests yielded:

Yes I realize; hence my disappointment given they're all LV 41. It's funny that I always skipped Don't Forget to Cry because of its length and the Escort one because I hate escort quests; whoops.

Don't Forget to Cry isn't all that hard. Just read the emotes, it will tell you if one is lurking nearby or not when you use the quest item. I don't do the escort quest either.

Because I think DET is more important here to bust people down.

And for a lv40 MDR, is it best to go with full penta melding HQ stuff (max VIT, STR, DET)?

Never equip anything which has a Higher Req Level than the Sync Level. What you should be using is :

Bought HQ items you will go for Vintage Celata as the guide states. Others you can go with the normal Tank HQ gear. Just remember the rule it can have a higher Ilvl but not a Higher Req Equip Level.

I've been trying a lot of equipment in PvP. TaneshimaPopura is right, my penta HQ 40 iLvl is better than my 55, 70 and 80 iLvl. I have more HP, speed, critical, everything.

Man getting the twink gear off 40 leves is a pain in the ass. Leveling SMN right now, so since LV 37 I've been doing "Don't Forget to Cry" almost non-stop. Currently almost LV 40 (probably 60 total leves including the ones I did on BRD at the start) and I've received one LV40/i43 item and it was an aetherial red coral ring (stats are pretty sick, but accessories are one slot where you can meld something better pretty easily).
