I'm constantly getting these two errors, cant even stay logged in for 3 minutes and, when I do, I keep getting lag spikes(but my internet is ok)
Some times I get error 2002 while trying to connect too
What should I do?

You're most likely experiencing an ongoing issue that lots of people, including myself, have been having since the 2.16 patch. Here's a thread with a little bit of official info, though it's probably nothing you haven't seen:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...f-%28Mar.-5%29
It seems like they've been trying to address the issue for some time now, and that's what all the maintenance dates have been about. Basically, SE knows it's their fault for writing and testing their network codes for Japan's network infrastructure (which is much better than anywhere else in the world). Of course, they won't admit that or offer compensation. Since the messages are general-error disconnects they can just keep working to make you think it's your fault or your ISP's fault.
Hopefully, the full day's worth of maintenance they are going to do to prep for the 2.2 patch will fix it, or at least help. I intend to hold out hope til then, since I've been really enjoying the game (when I can play it). If the issue persists though, I'm probably going to withdraw my subscription until I can check these boards and see that they've got their servers where they should be.
The announcement they made about the issue seems to refer to connection issues related to doing instances, and if it's the same as what i'm experiencing, it's something that happens randomly outside of instances. The 2002 error makes me think it is too, that's the error it gives after trying to connect to the data center, when i try to enter after disconnecting, which is followed by the client shutting down.
It actualy reminds me of the random disconnects from World of Warcraft, you'd also not be able to log in a short period afterwards when it happened, even though there supposedly wasn't anything wrong anyway, would just say "World server down". They seem very similar.
BaZERGer,
Yeah, you're right, it does seem like the thing they're working toward is resolving a problem with the instance system (which will, hopefully, bleed into the open world).
My problems too, are exactly like you describe, and they have all be related to open world play. Oddly enough, the few times I've managed to stay online long enough to join instances, I have no DC problems in those instances. FATES, though, always kick me, and if I stay in one place too long (such as when I craft or gather) I get kicked for sure.
If I remember correctly, when WoW had a similar issue, they issued an official statement explaining it, explaining when a fix might be expected, and that they were doing everything they could to fix it. SE's handling of this problem reminds me more of how Sony handled the PSN hack back in 2011. "Don't admit anything. Keep it quiet. We'll patch it. We'll patch it." And the loss of lots of money and business to Microsoft was the only thing that made them realize it was a mistake to not be straightforward with their customers.
Unfortunately, it's the closest thing we have to them admitting there is a major network problem that they need to deal with. It doesn't matter if it's their servers, or if it's the third party groups who are doing our routing. It's their own fault for not testing network functionality on less-than-Japan networks. They need to take responsibility for their product. And they shouldn't be trying to sweep these threads under the rug. I went to the "resolved issue" section and the "additional support" section of the forum and found dozens of these threads with hundreds of comments. Not one of them had an official statement from SE. This isn't how paying customers should be treated.
I agree entirely Laesha. We should be able to rely on the most basic principal of an online game.... stable connection!!!
Sort it out Square its already been too long! Never mind patch 2.2!
Dark Souls 2 anyone? :-)
Disconnected 7 times in last 30 mins so its ridiculous to play anymore.
The game is unplayable on the PS network! Its an outrage we're charged for this!! Square Enix should be giving us something back and not just an ingame gift!
Been getting major lagg spikes/disconnets aswell normally been fine until a few a days ago.
If its not remedied entirely after the 2.2 then I for 1 will be cancelling my subs and I'm pretty sure a lot of others on the PSN will do too.
PSN itself has been having some issues lately... may not be within SE's control:
http://downdetector.com/status/playstation-network/map/
About half of the reports look to be related to logging in to PSN itself.
ive been experiencing error 2000& 9000, dungeon disconnection for almost 2 weeks now (tonberry server) and my subs is running out, if this problem persist after 2.2 patch im going to cancel my subs. i love ff14 but this error is preventing me from playing the game![]()
