Loot lost because of server crash should be returned

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...d-server-Crash

I read that post today and was quite astonished that square enix does not take this seriously. These people spent a long time working for their gear and they deserve to reap the rewards of clearing the content. I find it reprehensible that the topic was moved to a part of the forum where more responses cannot be added. I think if us community members make a big enough stink about it, that square will make an actual attempt to resolve these issues. So please respond with your support and desire to see loot lost from square's server crashes, returned to their rightful owners.

P.S. This has not happened to me, but I would cancel my subscription the day I got screwed out of loot because of square's server crash.

While I find this completely unacceptable in terms of costumer service from ANY game company... I have come to expect this from SE. Even when it is their own fault... server crashes or instability... they will refuse to reimburse the customer or even at least reset their lockout to allow them to do the turn again if they are not going to restore the loot. I understand people's need to defend SE, both their company and their game, but this is unconscionable. I for one, have no problem putting my money where my mouth is and have already canceled my subscription. SE needs to work on it's customer service and community interactions before I will feel comfortable giving them money again.

I agree, I think that something like loot lost for this reason should be restored. It's really a quality of life kind of thing.

However, I think also SE has made it pretty clear that restorations like this aren't really a priority to them. This really is their choice.

It is true that there are other games, that the GMs will actually restore gear for you in circumstances just like this. It's not really a impossible feat. I don't know if there are any programming limitations in this game by way of it's design, but things like that haven't really been alluded to. All we can really say is SE just chooses not to do this for us.

Should we complain about it? I mean, yea, it sucks. However, it's pretty much their stated policy already. It's just one of the things we accept here unfortunately. As far as waiting until it happens to you before canceling your subscription... I mean, you know it *would* happen to you if the loot became lost. SE isn't going to make a special exception for you, also, I doubt the rules will be changed.

All we can do really is make threads like you just made and have people make additional posts like this one. Just us saying: "hey, we'd really like this!" It's about all we can do.

Thought it seems unfair, i lost T2 drop myself, They don't owe you anything, read the T&C. They can even take an item from your inventory for any reasons. Even ban your account.

Loot getting lost is a common thing.

Regardless what they are legally liable for based on their ToS, they are absolutely expected to provide customer's with quality services. If you purchased a coffee and the person at the service counter dropped a bandaid in your coffee handing it to you after you already paid... would you shrug it off and drink it anyhow? They have your money, you have your coffee, but it certainly is not the quality you expected and paid for. If they told you they would not give you a new coffee, even tho they made a mistake during it's transfer to you, would you continue to frequent that establishment? I certainly would not.

Loot getting lost is a common thing, you are right. Shit happens, servers go down, etc. What is NOT a common thing is a company completely refusing to help it's customers either get that loot back, reset their lockout, or do a roll back. There have been plenty of games that had server issues, and no they did not go to every raid group and restore their loot... they instead rolled servers back 10-15 minutes before the servers crashed to avoid issues like this happening.

My group had gotten the 90k when we had the ADS nearly dead. We were talking later about how bad it would have been if it had happened during loot distribution.

And yes, SE customer support does a terrible job on this kind of thing. A few months ago my FC had been the victims of an exploit. Someone stole over 3m gil from our bank. After weeks of talking to customer service, they only gave us back 2m. End of story.

The players affected by this is a minority in overall population, and even lower for people that actually lost something because of this. Setting a server back 15 mins would affect rest of the players.

Imagine the things the majority could lose because of this reset?

If i were MOD i would just say there is nothing to be done, If players were to quit the game for something like this(this is not a bandaid in coffee, this is more like a 1 extra cube of sugar in a coffee), then its their loss.

Considering the person never obtained that item in the first place, due to someone did not lot or dc'd too early. Then how can that person can just say that item belong to them? another member who did not lot can just say it is theirs..it could be abused since the item was not obtained by said person before crash.

    Just a thought.

Blizzard is usually very good about restoring lost loot in situations like this (in my experience, at any rate). There's no reason SE can't provide customer service on the level that Blizzard does.

Also, just FYI, they're hiring: http://ch.tbe.taleo.net/CH01/ats/car...ARE_ENIX&cws=1

One thing that can be done, I am quite sure time stamps in this game are thing, to unlock the weekly lockout from people that entered a specific coil short before the server down.

This way, people that didnt come to the loot don't feel cheated out of the loot. This way people moaning that they did not get their item X that "did not drop in 8 months"[sic, forgot who, but on this forum] can have another go at it.

But who am I kidding, when they do this, people will qqqqqq that some people that are ridicolous fast will get an "undesereved" second chance while keeping their items.
Server outages happened, happen and will happen. In every game, yeah it also happened in WoW and Ragnarok Online. For a while Blizzard would add play time for those server down times to your account, but they stopped this after a while.

I can't say much about how the game is set up and what's actually possible for them to do, but it seems like deducting 50 myth from a character and unlocking a turn of coil for them should be doable. Of course they'd have to do it for up to 8 people per instance in many cases. Returning an item that you never actually possessed doesn't really seem like a workable solution as a GM or other would just have to take a player's word that the other players were going to pass, or contact all the players involved to ensure they would have passed. The situation gets confusing and muddy very quickly unless SE has enough people working on these specific issues and a solid process on how to handle these cases.

Unfortunately, while I think SE are doing the right thing by first concentrating on making sure the servers don't crash like this again, they are either overly optimistic in their fixes or completely apathetic to the problems individuals have when these crashes happen.
