Fundraising Day for the Legion of Lalafells with Fun Community Events! 3/1/14

Hello Balmung!

As many of you may or may not know, in the game's current set up, anyone with promoting powers is actually able to promote other individuals to a higher rank than themselves. While this was a design feature intended to help free companies who's leader went inactive, there was a recent incident on our server where this was abused, and a free company had their entire house savings (over 10 million gil) stolen from them. The gist of the story is they participated in a merger, the leader of the other free company was given minimal officer powers in the merged fc (and a title, because he promised to set up a raid team for them), he waited until the other officer powers were offline, invited and promoted a different account, who then stole all their gil, and bailed. From the Square Enix responses that have been received so far, this seems to be 'working as intended', and the chances of them getting their gil back are minimal.

Therefore, Onslaught (OS) and Inevitable Failure (GIMP) would like to announce a community fundraising event next Saturday. We will iron out the exact times this week, but we'll be having fun community events throughout the day, the proceeds of which will go to Legion of Lalafell. Some of the events we have planned are:

Treasure Hunting For a Cause!- Dust off those maps and get ready to find some treasure! All gil proceeds will go toward the Legion of Lalafell, although players are free to do what they like with the non-gil treasure map rewards! On rare drops, please roll greed unless the player who provided the map says it's okay to do otherwise! Let's meet up outside Limsa Lominsa's Zephyr Gate, at 11am PST!

Levequests!- Meet up and make some new friends while knocking out some levequests! All gil proceeds go toward the Legion of Lalafell, but the fun and experience is yours to keep! Let's meet in the LL Adventurer's Guild for this, at 2pm PST.

Bake Sale- Is your ring looking a bit dingy and spiritbonded? Do you need to pick up some more food or potions for raids this week? Look no further! Our crafters are going to whip up some useful items and have a market day in the Gridania amphitheater, at 5pm PST! We'll set a base price for items to cover the mats used, and then anything past that will be donation based. We will also have crafters on hand who can craft/meld for tips. Again, all proceeds go to the Legion of Lalafell.

As the FC leader, I must say that I am totally blown away by this show of generosity. o.O There are plenty of people out there who will screw you over, but it's actions like this that indicate those people are just a loud minority.
