Lack of SE Response to Lag

Sorry to make another thread about this but SE haven't acknowledged that they're doing anything about the lag issue.

61 pages with no response from SE > http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...n-%28R0%29-lag

    My original post > http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...Unplayable-Lag

The lag is rendering the game unplayable for a lot of players even us resorting to programs such as Pingzapper. It's been well over a week with 100s of complaints from various affected ISP users.

After submitting bug reports, contacting SE and my ISP (Sky) all I get is "It must be Sky's fault" or "It must be SE's fault".

I'd just really like a response to say "Hey we're aware of the issue and we're doing X Y and Z to try and fix it." Just so we know that this issue will be resolved.

Really love this game but when you get 5-10 second rubber banding every minute and continuous 90ks what's the point in playing?

Sorry again for sounding like a broken record.

Whilst pingzapper and wtfast both seem to help with this problem (except wtfast which actually kills any form of connection on my laptop!), the fact we aren't seeing any action or any word from SE on this issue baffles me completely. A single post that even acknowledged the issue would at least ease the minds of the affected.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, all pingzapper/WTfast is, is a VPN service, it allows your traffic to be routed via a private network as opposed to the public internet, it's still connecting to the SAME routers and servers on SE's end, therefore if this increases your ping and actually lowers latency, then the issue isn't specifically on SE's end, the problem is a, the internet, millions of people using the infrastructure, so SE could slightly bump up the cast on AoEs for this, or b, your ISP is using a sub-par route to get to the datacenter.

People saying "SE YOUR NETWORK SUCKS" then says how a VPN makes it much more playable makes me laugh every time.

Please show me where I said "SE YOUR NETWORK SUCKS".

I've asked for a response. "Much more playable" isn't good enough to be honest. Still getting lag spikes and 90k when this wasn't happening before last week. There is obviously a problem either on SE's end, several ISP's end or somewhere in the middle. It's therefore in SE's interest to determine what the problem is or they'll lose a portion of their player base due to this. "ISPs fault. Too bad" isn't the way to resolve these issues.

It lowers the rate of rubber banding but doesn't eradicate it and 90k error is common. Could be disconnected 5 or 6 times in a night while the last time I DC'd was Beta/Early Access.

After 15 years of playing these games, I have reached the conclusion that, as absurd as it may seem, game companies don't really care about losing subscriptions. Or if they care, they don't show any sign of that. That's the reason almost all games go FTP.

I add that I like this game a lot, overall (else would not be paying a monthly fee), and I hope it doesn't follow that route. I hope also that SE agrees. :P

    P.S.
And yes, a dev chiming in now and then on these matters would be very appreciated...

Doesn't matter how many times you (and others) explain how it actually works.
They still believe it's something that SE can fix within their own perimeters.
Since it seems the companies in the middle of the path responsible are not interested in fixing the problems on their side, about the best people can hope for is for SE to relocate the datacenter elsewhere, or just go for one of the VPN solutions that bypasses the bad paths.
Or ask their ISP's to peer against better backbone providers...

    ^ this

SE isn't reacting on it because it really has nothing to do with them. I've only been in about three or four parties where some guy claimed he got lag-plumed or something, but then again "LAAGGGGG" is the safest way to save face in any online game.

That said i do occasionally get the freeze-then-go type of lag, but stuff like that just happens. If it's happening more than you think it should, it most likely has something to do with you. You guys, with the funny lag signatures, who consistently complain about lag, i'm pretty sure it's something on your end.

Okay, so let's say it's not SQE's fault or problem, just for the sake of argument.

Why then, is XIV the only MMO's to have problems like this to such a great degree for such a wide range of people? Shouldn't we be seeing problems of this nature across the board with every single MMO; Because if it has nothing to with the company running the game and everything to do with the internet connections of the users, every game should have this problem.

Why only SQE and XIV though? Why does only XIV require it's playerbase to use a VPN and not every other MMO? Something in the logic just doesn't add up, and if people can't see that, then there's no point trying to convince you.
