    Most mmos simply handle this issue by booting any instance of that character when attempting to log in.
    Which shouldn't be an issue as no one else should be logging into your account.
    I think it was handled in this manner even in 11, but been a while so i can't remember for sure.

    Personally I wouldn't mind if it worked that way, but I guess it could be annoying for people who share accounts. Which is a legitimate thing to do in my opinion.

    And I'm almost certain it wasn't handled that way in XI. At least I sometimes had to wait a few seconds after reconnecting because my character wasn't completely logged out yet.

    Great news that they finally got rid of the bug either way ~
