How to Fix Mid-Combat DC (Connection Lost)

If a player DCs in the middle of combat while in a party, that player should still be considered in the party, but with his name grayed out. If that player is able to reconnect to the server within a 10 minute window, he is automatically placed back into the party as if he had never left in the first place. All accumulated hate, buffs, debuffs, etc are still applied to the player.

Once engaged in combat, changing from a battle class to another class is still prohibited.

Once engaged in combat, changing one time only from a gathering/crafting class to a battle class is allowed.

If a player is DCed during a leve, that leve is still active if the player logs back on within a 10 minute window. The only way to fail a leve is to run out of time, change zones, or manually abandon it from the crystal.

Change the server timeout from 10 minutes to something more sane like 2 minutes. Waiting so long after a DC is very frustrating.

Problem solved. That was easy. Next.

Sounds good. I'd certainly like to hear from the devs why they think this wouldn't work, as they certainly have a good eye for spotting potential abuses. Regardless of any issues with the class change or DC rules for battles, I like the shorter server timeout.

To add more to your wonderful idea, I would recommend letting the party have a vote kick window. If you are in a dungeon, and the person does something like intentionally DC's, that is 10 minutes you have to wait until you get another player. If your party agrees that his intentions were to purposely DC, the party can vote kick him out, with a time limit on when you can do it again, and get another person in.

I don't see why you couldn't just Oust him normally, its obviously down to the leader then and there is no vote process but in most cases the leader would ask in party chat before kicking someone anyway.

Really pointless function taken directly from WoW, being as the Oust option is available, and if not, just disband and regroup.

Yep. A lot of the restrictions in the game are due to them wanting to prevent exploits and abuses. However, it usually does more to inconvenience most legitimate players rather than discourage the exploiters. I feel that it hurts more than it helps. A net negative.

I do believe, though, that through creative means there always lies a solution that can be both convenient to players and discouraging to exploiters. All we have to do is use our brains a little.

Good point, but like the others said, that can all be accomplished with the current system - just have the party leader out him/her.
