If a player DCs in the middle of combat while in a party, that player should still be considered in the party, but with his name grayed out. If that player is able to reconnect to the server within a 10 minute window, he is automatically placed back into the party as if he had never left in the first place. All accumulated hate, buffs, debuffs, etc are still applied to the player.
Once engaged in combat, changing from a battle class to another class is still prohibited.
Once engaged in combat, changing one time only from a gathering/crafting class to a battle class is allowed.
If a player is DCed during a leve, that leve is still active if the player logs back on within a 10 minute window. The only way to fail a leve is to run out of time, change zones, or manually abandon it from the crystal.
Change the server timeout from 10 minutes to something more sane like 2 minutes. Waiting so long after a DC is very frustrating.
Problem solved. That was easy. Next.
Other games recover gracefully from networking glitches. This one doesn't. Obviously, networking issues beyond SE's control are going to happen. What we want is to get back to playing and staying within our party/ scenario once the issue's on our end have been resolved... which is what is currently not possible.
When this goes P2P, that second character is not free. And doing exactly that did not work for me last night. I could not log in on my secondary character either.
Which is why I referred to it as a temporary fix.
Is your secondary character located on the same server as your main?
Seems ridiculous we need to use a temporary fix like this wasting a character on another server you'll likely never play! And I've tried with multiple characters, but the same server... It's never worked for me. I can select a character, the screen goes black with the "Now Loading" phrase only to reappear at the character selection menu with an odd error before kicking me back to the title screen.
Amen. I got DCed for 10 straight minutes recently and I was in the middle of something in game.
If you are experiencing dropouts even after replacing your router, contact your Internet Service Provider's Technical Support department. Tech-savvy as we all are, there are things they can look into in the back end which can assist you in fixing any internet connectivity issues. For example, they can usually run searches on your connections to the DSLAM and look at the meaning of internal error codes not visible to the public. I should know - I work for one.
That's general advice for everyone. Less drop-outs = less having to worry about this in the first place, silly as it may be.
Yes that's a very annoying problem.
The ~10 minute wait is very frustrating, plus when you're logged back on you can't rejoin your party if you were engaged in a long fight, e.g. NMs; your leves are failed with guardian aspect and leve linking bonus lost..
