The problem (as has been argued ad nauseum) is that all the wards are stored on one server that has to track everything. Splitting it into more wards won't help at all unless something is done about the stability of the server over-all. Not rendering the retainers and letting us buy from the search menu, though, would solve the stability and usability issues in one fell swoop.
