It's utterly baffling how low RMTs will go to steal hard-earned money from legitimate players.

As bad of a situation this is, you have to realize it's not just RMT that will hack and steal from people as there's forum communities full of people who use hack (BG and Evo forums for example) - This is why every company (including Blizzard) installs monitoring software on your computer and SE is the only one that doesn't try to impede in that regard (since people would complain.)

I'm deeply hoping Square Enix does whatever it possibly can to fix this issue so as to protect us.

In all honesty, they'll have to redesign the game in certain areas at this point.

I just hope this begins to deter the people who buy from the gil sellers.

It won't - people still buy leveling services (Deepvoid mouse in shroud) and buy gil because it's easier.

On Behemoth, I saw a retainer named Supermarketsweep selling normally cheap things for millions. Beastkin blood, bone chip, bat wing, and eye drops are all that I've seen going for millions before the servers went down.

I can totally relate...it took hard work and now it's gone. It was 2.1 mil for me a viscous secretions hq purchased for 2 mil (couldn't find the other item for 100k.) I can only imagine how the ones that lost more feel...

I think if you buy someting for 2 mil and have a tax of 5%, the tax would be your 100 k... they disappeared into thin air...

Ok I figured out the problem. Your retainer has a shopping problem so they steal your gil and run off to the marketboards. The security camera caught them down at macy's spending your hard earned gil on some overpriced nighty outfit. Fire them at once.

(all jokes aside, this is not a hacker, this is a bug. Think logical, your retainer has both access to your gil and the marketboard... this is why banks and auctions are always two differant NPC's in most games.)

Yup a bug that just so happens to send all you gil to a well known RMT tag (Dgsd) that is on multiple servers.
