    People really need to get it out of their head that WAR has higher DPS... we don't. PLD gets more Critical Hit and ACC from their Myth gear itemization than a WAR - as well as getting your Parry & Block on. You take less of a damage reduction in Shield Oath* than we do in Defiance - and Swords AA at a significantly faster rate than an Axe. You want more damage? Toss on Sword Oath and some DPS accessories.

    Warrior's have a higher HP pool that's been the case since day one in FFXIV: ARR.

    We're gaining freedom of "mobility" in our Wrath mechanics; Unchained will allow us to go all out on our DMG. Steel Cyclone will help us expend Wrath for AOE threat situations (this is likely an OT tool). Inner Beast is going to be healing for 300-700 HP now but giving us a 20% DR aftermath supposedly for 6s. It takes 8 GCDs to get Wrath V (20s), or an Infuriate (60s CD).

    Inner Beast: 20s for 6s of 20% DR, or using Infuriate for a maximum of 12s 20% DR with a 20s build up for another 6s and another 60s for Infuriate.

    Rampart: 20% DR for 20s every 90s.

    IB -> 20s build up -> 6s 20% DR -> Infuriate -> 6s 20% DR -> 20s build up 6s 20% DR

    Build up: 40s
    CD: 60s (Infuriate)
    Time up: 18s

    Rampart. Instant 20% DR 20s

    Build up: 0s
    CDs: 90s
    Time up: 20s

    I don't think Warrior wins over the long haul - but it does handle bursts of damage better than it did before.

    People cry because WAR wasn't on par with PLD
    People cry because WAR gets buffs and fear PLD is useless now, even without testing these changes
    People cry because WARs stun is still on a bigger cooldown than the PLDs even without knowing that 20s might be enough to block the dangerous bloss skills.
    People cry because WAR can't still root Adds in place even if they have f***ing scorpion move now
    People should wait, test things out and not jump into conclusions
    People would cry less that way

    I like all the crying over the Twintania references. Oh no, Warrior will be the preferred tank for this SINGLE ENCOUNTER, in A SINGLE DUNGEON. When, as the game stands now, Paladin is now the preferred tank for this encounter, and every other in Coil insofar.

    There's really 2 types of players in the game right now who tank Coil, with a few brave outliers in strong FCs.
    Type 1: Those who rolled Paladin, and brought it to 50, geared up, started Coil.
    Type 2: Those who rolled Warrior, brought it to 50, geared up – and immediately saw the class imbalance between the two tanks, so they rolled Paladin, brought it to 50, geared up, started coil.

    Broad generalisation incoming – anyone complaining about these changes is likely a Type 1.

    It is not fun to play an mmo, enjoy leveling, enjoy story content, only to arrive at max level and find the playing field un-level. It's also not fun, to play an mmo, enjoy leveling etc and have your class nerfed. So, in this situation, is anyone being nerfed? No. They're simply improving the gameplay experience for the other half of tanks out there. And, guess what? We're on your side! You should want warriors balanced, you should want warriors to be slightly better at something than you, as you are better at some things as well. I can see this kind of crying when it comes to faction-based games, because that's war, but christ these are your fellow gamers.

    This thread is in stark contrast to a thread that is built upon actual theory, instead of bullet points soaked in Paladin tears.

    Why should I bring a warrior if I have two paladins?

    I think SE should think this way: if I can bring two paladins, why should I bring a warrior? Paladins have everything best in game.

    On top of those buffs, I'd suggest give warrior a silencing skill and an AoE blind effect, or simply remove Spirits Within and Enhanced Flash from paladins.

    Otherwise, unless you're gonna bring multiple bards, you'll have a hard time even at ADS in Coil Turn 1...

    Back to the question: Why should I bring a warrior if I have two paladins?

    I don't see how the 20% Defiance is equivalent to Shield Oath. Shield Oath still seems much better to me.

    Shield Oath stops 20% of damage from coming in altogether. Less stress on healers because the damage never took place.

    Defiance adds 20% percent to incoming heals after the fact. There's still a ton of stress on Mister WHM over there to pour those heals on.

    Can someone explain why those two are supposedly equivalent even though WAR requires a healer to take advantage of this "mitigation"?

    Because if a pld doesnt get healed, he'll still die? Go ahead, try using sentinel against mountain buster and then have everybody else stop doing what they're doing and see what happens.
