I have same issue, fix please
Great post... The netcoding on this game really needs to be improved.
And until it is fixed, they either need to increase the cast time of insta-kill AOEs or reduce the radius. Sure, this will make some fights easier for the lucky few that don't suffer from this issue, but for the rest of us, such a change could be the difference between having a fun end game experience and quitting the game out of frustration.
First off, i'm a total noob when it comes to PCs, networks, pings and such...
That is as well the reason why i only play on consoles (you buy it, place it next to your TV, and expect each and every game to run just fine...)
That beeing said, i read through most (not all) posts here and the other threads, but i have not seen a single post of someone stating "there is no problem, it's all on your end, try doing xyz" to offer any advice a PS3 user might find useful.
(i'm not talkin about "run before he starts casting" or "use an ability when outside" because if that's your advice you admit there is someting broken WITHIN the game)
So my question is: Is there any workaround or anything to check/set on my end if i'm on PS3?
(like "tone down grapic setings" or "use that Battleping thingy" ... i haven't looked that up yet, but is it even possible on PS3?)
Battleping is a VPN service and probably wont work on PS3 unless you have the technical know-how and desire to void your warranty to basically turn your PS3 into a computer. If you've already tried the lowest possible graphic settings with no improvement, that wont work either (you might get an Frames-Per-Second boost and feel that everything is smoother, but try a popular FATE during the prime-time of your server, as well as a popular tome dungeon during the cap rush at reset, and one primal fight such as Titan and see if it holds). Connecting directly by cable to router rather than wireless might alleviate some of it, as well as resetting the router and port forwarding the ports that FFXIV uses (I got no change from this).
Bump. And ignore Tupsi from now on, they're some sort of concern troll at this point.
This issue will start pushing players away from the game in no time.
There's a lot of amazing things SE has done with the gameplay of this MMO, but in the end, the unresponsiveness will simply kill the game for anyone who's experiencing it.
There are plenty of other games available where this issue doesn't even exist, and it would be greatly appreciated if someone important at SE could give these thousands of players discussing the problem a response.
Agreed. This is literally killing the game for some folks.. which in turn will kill the game for me. If my FC mates leave the game because they literally can't beat Titan with the delay as it is, my enjoyment suddenly drops and I'll end up leaving too. That or the frustration of being hit by things I was out of becomes more than the fun I'm getting out of the game itself and I leave. Either of those scenarios could be months from now, but if the issue persists I can't see me staying with the game as long as I have stayed with other MMOs in the past. So it rather kills the longevity potential. This issue will start pushing players away from the game in no time.

Then all of use who recognize the issue will be gone, and any new players who come to the forums to find out why they were hit with that AOE will just be met with people telling them they're bad and to fix their ISP. :x
Bump for great justice.
Bump because I can't believe this hasn't been addressed yet. Ok fine, I can believe it.
/sigh
