    Yoshi addressed this in the live letter (10) today. In 2.1 they are making some changes to (or seen in, waiting on official translation) Primals and PvP that they hope will help with the aoe delay. He's asking us to try those first. So yay! They at least acknowledge it's an issue, and are attempting to fix it in their own way. Major points for addressing it in the live letter, and kudos to all those who supported getting an answer.
