The thing i fail to understand is why SE is to blame for ISP throttling?
I skimmed that thread which was posted here. I see people suffering from throttling issues, people with various other issues. All blaming SE for it.
The thread imo looks like a dumping ground for anyone who has a connection problem they "feel" isn't their own fault.
Some ISP's may work great locally but as soon as you get out of the country you are in they can be horrible. I changed ISP's on more than one occasion because of it.

I do understand that it is frustrating when the game you want to play seems to be the cause of your connection problems but it could be lots of other things. The fact SE is trying to sort this out if anything shows they actually do care. Even if at the moment they just seem to be gathering evidence.

It wouldn't surprise me that some people who are complaining are on limited bandwidth deals and when it runs out they get capped for the rest of the month.
Some people could have little to no knowledge of what their connection speed actually is and are just presuming it is all SE.

InB4 possible ranting.. I know some people do know their stuff while that is true there will always be people out there who think they do but really they just learned from the university of bro science.

It's not actually ISP throttling.

If it was, we'd have grounds to sue over the FCC's internet neutrality laws...And I mean real $$$$ lawsuits.

As it stands, the CA server is simply from You --> Game. ~ Instances are You --> Game --> Japan - There-in lies the inherent issue and the lag.

It's actually VERY EASY to test for and see that the issue is one of buffering/latency from their server to the instance server.

You actually can see this even more evidently because your packet loss quadruples due to how many packets they're trying to now cram down your throat in an effort to compensate for the ping delay. -- Please note, IT DOESN'T WORK.

As someone who has DF Titan fight for a week here's what I think:

99 percent of the players that get hit will always blame lag whether it's true or not.
80 percent of the players go into the fight undergeared and think it's okay because they saw a youtube vid of players doing it.
Most healers can't heal phase 5.

The main reason I think Titan is hard is because the fight is unforgiving. One death and it's hard to recover. You have to rely on every player to play well which rarely happens in df.

IMO it has nothing to do with zooming camera out further.

Lol some people are such fanbois. There is nothing to defend here, sure people can deal with lagging but that is hardly the point. Nothing is impossible in this game just because of the latency, but since very few if any other game has issues as big as this even when they are games from small companies as opposed to a AAA title like ARR players should not have to deal with it. It won't make or break the game because not everyone has the problem, some that have it are fanbois and don't care, but that still doesn't make it okay to have a large portion of your playerbase with issues that are clearly SEs fault. If they do, again it won't make or break anything, but they deserve to get all the shit they get for it and probably more.

I can say this about the lag issue. I roam around ARR with .5 to 1 second of server lag while my girl who is sitting 5 feet to my left is getting split second, no lag response from her game raiding with 25 other people in WoW. People "get used to" the lag and then claim that its not an issue. I for one do not want to just adjust to it as if its always going to be there. I've been a big BIG Final Fantasy fan most of my life and i WANT to throw money at the series but when issues like this are built into the game...

... its just hard to want to play when I see so many other products where I won't have to deal with such a no brainer issue.

Just my 2 cents and what I assume will sooner or later be the reason I move on to another game.

Just put Deadly Boss Mods in the game so everyone can STFU about server strain or bad hops on their internet connection route to the data center WHICH IS NOT SE'S FAULT. Server strain is, but i am pretty damn sure they can't be throwing $10k at more server stuff when they are worried more about pushing a content patch for player retention. New server parts costing them 1 months worth of subs from 666.6 people does not look good to corporate who is in the "Recover every last penny possible" mode, meaning Devs are on content production mode, not purchasing infrastructure and more employees to GM the game mode.

Yes because when DBM lags .5ms on top of the server's .5ms lag and you're still standing in crap, that really goes towards solving the entirety of this issue.../Sarcasm.

And yes it is, completely their fault.

It's more than 10k and judging by their subscription numbers, they have enough to buy new servers and buffer tech.

Production won't matter anymore when everyone leaves due to a complete lack of customer service in //all// facets of the game.

To be honest I have the same Lag issues now as in 1.XX I actually don't understand why they rebuilt the engine when a good number of people experience the same issues. Confuses me tbh but hey not complaining, only time I actually "feel" the lag issue as a problem, is Monday and sometimes to a lesser extent Tuesdays when every man and his dog is spamming AK, or at Weekends when a good portion of the NA playerbase is online.

Other than that I'm first to admit it usually me being to slow or trying who whore in that extra cast lol

But SE is how they've always been, arrogant. "We do it this way...you WILL like it. Well unless there then becomes a massive public outcry then we MIGHT change something or offer insight"
Anyone who played FFXI for a few years will tell you it was the same back then as how XIV is now, the only reason FFXIV Originally launched in a state was due to the major arrogance issue.
