Any news on a fix for the terrible server performance?

(If you incorrectly think you aren't experiencing this issue, read all the way through)

Its been over a month now and still FFXIV's terrible server latency/performance isn't even on par with a generic f2p MMO, much less a AAA title. For those who don't know, or perhaps have never played an MMO with decent servers to compare this to, here's some early reddit discussion on the topic: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...esponsiveness/

I don't know if this is the entire issue but every player, no matter what PC/system you are on, what settings, what ISP, *every single player* is experiencing high latency/lack of sync with FFXIV's servers. This causes all sorts of problems and an overall extremely unresponsive gameplay feel compared to other MMO's. Here's another thread discussing it:

It is not playing perfect for anyone, if you read the original post and the detailed info provided in the links you would see that. Tunnel service doesn't help. Let me say again, *every single player* is experiencing this high latency/lack of server responsiveness. If you think you aren't, you simply aren't paying attention or you don't understand the issue.

For simple proof, try casting a spell and canceling by moving/jumping with 30-50 (300-500ms) left on the cast. The spell will cast anyway, because the server isn't seeing you move until long after you move on your client. There are dozens of youtube videos showing this. Not a single person can post a video showing a responsive server while casting, because there aren't any.

Haven't hear anything so far (which in itself is horrible from SE), but hopefully we get something at the live letter because this is a very big issue for a lot of people.

You won't get anything from the Live Letter addressing this issue. Not once has Yoshi ever addressed serious issues during those live letters. Instead, you'll get to find out more about housing. Yippee!

That casting issue is prob working as intended. Why do I say this? Cause the same thing happens in FFXI, Especially on RDM with it's fast cast. On my RDM I could move at around 72% complete casting of most spells and have it go off. I don't see the problem here. Even if the servers were on future servers that run at 1000 tera hertz+ for each character, you'll still get this lag. This lag comes not from the server but from the distance your data packets have to travel between client and the server and the types of connections it goes though. Even if you're connected to the internet by optical, it don't not mean that all points between you and the server are optical connections. I see no problems here.

No, the server coding has a delay of 300ms. So there will always be a delay of what you do with 300ms + your ping.

All because that they want to be cheap and not put any extra stress on their servers. Also why we don't have item sort.

I didn't play FFXI so I can't comment on that one, perhaps it also had terrible servers. But every other major MMO (and most minor ones, including f2p games) have far more server responsiveness and less latency than FFXIV, assuming you have a good connection and are relatively close to the servers. Talking about needing 1000 tera hertz+ future computers is complete and utter non-sense. WoW's servers almost 10 years ago (again, along with every other major MMO) did not have anything close to this cast cancel delay. Here's a video of what non-terrible MMO servers perform like:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24nypzuW2bw

Notice that when the character's in these videos move, the spells stop casting immediately. Compare that with FFXIV and you will see just how bad SE's servers are.

It's what this 950-posts topic is about: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-fix-something.

    Still no answer.
