Relic +1 or ?????

BLM here and was wanting to know is it better to get the +1 relic or get the pants for blm which cost 825. Stat wise what do you think is better overall.

Relic + 1.

Weapon damage will always be better than any other stat for DPS.

Unless the primary stat bonus from the other gear exceeds the flat DPS gain from the weapon, such as Wyrm Mail piece for DRGs.
Gae Bolg +1: +2 flat damage +4 STR +3 Crit +4 VIT (over base relic stats)
Wyrm's Mail: +9 STR +6 DET +11 VIT +24 Crit -19 Skill speed (over Darklight Cuirass)

The Wyrm's mail choice will net slightly higher DPS, as the STR + DET + CRIT > Flat DPS + STR gained in both items respectively. Additionally, the Wyrm's mail choice provides more durability through higher defense, determination, and vitality. A stronger weapon does not necessarily mean more DPS when compared with other gear slot gains.

I'm holding out for the staff myself.

Go for the staff and once you cleaned T5 you can go for the 1Hand + Shield, since it gives a bonus to accuracy, which the Relic doesnt. In fact, the relic gives crap stats for BLM :D

2 WD's worth about 15 str. Gae Bolg +1 > Wyrm's Mail in that comparison.

Unless you really want the HP from the Vit really badly, or the 19 skill speed on the DL chest is putting you over 200 skill speed and you want to remove it.

Or some other weird situation.

Its not just the STR, factor in the DET and CRIT and the mail easily outperforms the weapon in DPS.

Gae Bolg +1: WD (15.1 str), STR (4 str), CRT (0.48 str), +4 Vit =

~19.6 str and 4 vit

Wyrm's Mail: STR (9 str), DET (1.31 str), CRT (3.83 str), SS (-2.77 str), +11 vit =

~14.1 str and 11 vit if you value the SS as 0. If you value the SS, it is
~11.4 str and 11 vit

Either way, weaker than the relic+1 upgrade.

Same question here, but with the T2 Chest.
I currently have the chest from AK.

I think it's a better option to get T2 chest than relic +1 as a BLM ... What do you think guys ?

I read somewhere that 1DPS on your weapon was equivalent to roughly 6 of your primary stat.
The BLM +1 gives you +3dmg so that's already 18INT + the other increased stats on the weapon.
I just got mine last night and everything seems to be cookin/melting faster.

If i assume that +3 dmg gives 18int, this is the stats changing if I take relic +1 or AF +1 (chest)
R+1 : +5vita, +22 intel (considering 3dmg), + 2 determination, + 4 spellspeed (total 33)
AF+1 : +13 vita, +13 intel, -12 deter, + 34 accuracy (total 48)

I don't think that the relic +1 worth the cost in comparison of the AF+1 chest

The relic+1 however, gives you "9" additional int vs 22 offstat.

Int vs offstat is a variable comparison, but generally int is worth between 4 and 8 of an offstat.

Thus, the relic is pretty clearly better.

Furthermore, the relic is a "safe" upgrade. If you're doing coil regularly, chest and pants, etc upgrades will happen, while the weapon isn't until turn 5 and frankly if you can clear turn 5 you didn't need the weapon drop anyway.

I mean, they pulled the stats for you above, but I just wanted to highlight the flaw here with this comparison. Yes you are comparing relic to relic+1 vs AK (iLvl 60) to AF-2 (iLvl 90) which is certainly a bigger iLvl jump.... however consider that you can ONLY get 300 Myths a week, and unlimited Philos. While doing 13-14 runs of CM sounds depressing in order to get your chest/helm... you can technically do all that in one day... then when you compare going up another step, you are looking at 3 weeks to either choose between relic+1 or AF-2 chest (keeping in mind that you will have to drop your helm back down to the AK one... which is a stat loss on that slot) I would say that the relic would win out in that case because of what you are actually going to end up taking a hit on with your gear.
