Going AFK in Castrum Meridianum

People that queue up in duty finder for this dungeon and then go AFK leeching tomestones really make me mad. Either the group ends up disbanding or we struggle on without that tank/healer/dps. It is a very selfish thing to do, and it just wastes everyones time. Why should they be rewarded for it?

Square Enix, you must do something about these AFKers leeching. It's driving people crazy. How about they get -100 tomestones for every time they do this.

Can you really blame them though? CM is the most boring and terrible endgame grind I have ever done in any MMO. A better solution would be actually making endgame interesting.

Wouldn't stop it from happening, SE needs to stop it through a vote to kick or a contribution reward (you don't get rewards for bosses unless you are inside the boss area at the killing blow).

they aren't the only people who are tired of farming these dungeons for tomestones, yet other people still pull their weight in these groups instead of being a burden

A vote to kick function is something people talk about in game often. It would solve the AFK problem, but my concern is that it could be used to kick someone from a group, if lets say you are competing against their friend for loot. Or you could find yourself getting kicked simply because you are an undesirable class for a particular instance.

Stop using DF if you can. For the record, CM and Prae can be solo tanked by an AF geared WAR. Take the second slot for DPS.

Just report them and move along.

Report and don't let them leech, just disband.

Reporting doesn't work. I tried that once with a guy who stripped naked and wanted to just repeatedly wipe our primal hard mode fight. The official response I got back on the ticket was that there's nothing in the rules forcing a player to perform his role at all.

I've had the 'pleasure' to experience my first AFK leecher in CM yesterday. 7ppl wrote a report on him so I really hope SE will do something about his attitude.

Funny thing - guy woke up when we got to the last boss, and argued that he's not an AFK leecher, but his wife needed him!

If they're new players running Prae or CM in DF and the group decides to speed run regardless, I AFK until we get players who have some patience.

Report them as harassment by not allowing normal play. If you don't do that, GMs won't even consider investigating, punishing them, as they said on another thread the players can play their role anyway they want. However if you report as harassment, where this player is causing the PT trouble by lack of that job, that should be there, then it becomes a legit reason for investigation. In my opinion, either way it should be dealt with heavily, but this is how it is now.

I have. Same response as upthread. "We can not force a player to play their role." I didn't report the players who were there, but that clearly had no intention of playing their role (like one CNJ who wore only gathering gear, and would do nothing but emote ... or once at least two people queued as replacement rush the closest boss and cast Stone). No idea, but not worth a ticket.


I did report AFK players holding open a Duty Finder instance, and forcing all the people queuing as replacement members to constantly thrash in and out of their instance. This was on lower than AK runs. I did not ask they they "play their role", I did request the instance get closed so the Duty Finder queue for that dungeon would stop thrashing players. But my response was that it is .. not a problem? I know its bad for the match system. Oh, and magically all that day I spent queuing as a replacement member, when I would tell other replacements to go ahead and leave, and I'd stay and warn new pops and put in a ticket ...EVERY TIME .. the AKFer magically came back! Three different ones.

Once more know the tickets are ignored ....

I haven't queued as a replacement member again, I'll wait until after the subs start. And if I get another ticket response like that if it happens again after that, I'll need to start a thread in Tech Support to clarify if this really is perfectly acceptable. At least close the instance, perhaps the player was not greifing, and something really bad happened at their house. Fine, but at least fix the stuck instance, with only one AFK player left in it.
