Dhalmel Can I have It?

I would like to start a petition so that Square Enix bring back more memorable monsters back to the game from FFXI. What we have now is amazing but to complete it we need one thing. Dhalmel. These long necked friends are one of the most iconic monsters in FFXI and should be in FFXIV. If you want to support this please give it a Like if not just ignore :)

It'll be in an expansion area, probably. I wouldn't fret about missing enemies, they seem keen to adding familiar faces from XI, so I've no doubts we'll see em eventually.

Just what this game needs is more stuff from Final Fantasy. In fact they should just copy almost everything from FFXI until the point where they ruined it.

I'd rather them come up with new, unique monster designs.

One the one hand I'd love to see Dhalmels back (and a Dhalmel farm!)... but really, I don't want Eorzea to be overpopulated with a hodge-podge of hand-me-downs from the rest of the series. A few monsters here and there are fine, but I think I'd rather miss them than have FFXIV feel like a retirement home for unemployed monsters from the previous games.

Well we already have crabs, qiqirin, goblins, cactuar (the dumb version), vultures, uragnites, peistes, gargoyles, gigas, minotaur, raptors, mandragora, bombs, wights (skeles), adamantoises, opo-opo, apkallu, colibri, puks (became dragonflies), black dragons (like AK's final boss), goobbue, saplings, mamool ja, tonberry, bees, chigoes, sandworms, demons, flans, imps, soulflayers, and pugils....

i'm sure a couple more wouldn't hurt....

Actually, there are puks.
And a lot of those arent really just FF related, theyre really general things, or based on fantasy. Though a lot of the versions we have are directly FF linked.

Everything i mentioned have models that are identical to FFXI models, which was my point. And I know there are actual puks in the game which was what the "became dragonflies" part meant, since the puks from FFXI are in FFXIV under a different name (dragonfly genus) but are different from the "puks" in FFXIV.

Although the first image isn't fantastic there's clearly more detail in the textures and polygons on the FFXIV model.

As for your initial point - I agree that there's already a lot of returning monsters in the game. Howver a lot of them are enemies that have already been in the series so often it'd be strange to *not* have them (Cactuars, for one), others haven't really been around for a long time (Mindflayers), and the FFXII designs feel right at home anyway considering who FFXIV's lead artist is. On the whole I don't mind what's already in FFXIV, and I think by and large the things I was worried about (Costa del Sol, Crystal Tower) are being altered enough that they don't stick out, but I don't want the game to get to a point where I wonder "Which game's that from?" whenever I encounter a "new" enemy.

Well, obviously they all have more textures/polygons in FFXIV. The only real difference between the FFXI opo and the FFXIV opo is eye size and feet color (aside from graphical quality differences).

I don't remember mentioning FF12, only FF11. Every single enemy type I mentioned is a literal copy of it's FF11 counterpart. I didn't mention enemies such as bats, which are in both games, because the models actually differ. The cactuar example is that the cactuar are identical in FFXI and FFXIV (and it's not even the iconic version of cactuars that you'd see in past FF games like 10 and 13). In any case, I've deviated from my point by explaining the point that reinforced my...point... It doesn't really matter if they bring in more enemy models from FF11, since there's already so many of them already in the game (that are a literal copies).

There's no reason they can't add both new unique enemy types (specific to FF14) as well as reincarnate enemies from older games as well as redesign enemies from older games.

yeah its fun to see new things too! but I'm also looking forward to the Crystal Tower Bosses that were in FF3 and that will be in FF14 :P!

They already exist, called Elezen.

I'd rather see new unique mob designs.

A giraffe with a broken back doesn't particularly interest me tbh.

To be honest, I want FFXI's main icon back - rarabs. Remember... in XI, no matter what level you are, theres always a rarab that can kill you.

I hate that they use Final Fantasy stuff in a Final Fantasy game. I think they need Warcraft monsters instead.

If only I could down-vote, simply for the image you just put in my head >.< I do like the mix they did, of old-school, and re-imagined mobs though. Like when I saw Bogy on my hunter's log, I was *not* expecting them to look the way they do, but I really like how they changed em from XI's image. Now with that, watch SE take the long necks out of Dhalmels and make em more camel-like than giraffe O.o
