Fed up already

I really do take back a lot of what I said during the beta phases. This game has turned into a horrendous monstrosity.

FATE spams are brain melting, there's no skill involved in them and they're being hammered by so many players that half the time I get little or no credit for participating.

Waiting queues for dungeons are awful, guildleves are supposed to introduce new players to following strategies most of them don't give a darn. "Avoid being spotted by the goobbue" yet most parties ignore the warnings and pull everything at once and survive. What's the point in a strategy if failing to follow the rules means you still live?

I'm at a stage where I need to grind 2-3 levels before I can pick up new quests, I'd fill in with leves but because gathering jobs have NO BOOSTS to them I'm having to save all my leves for those instead, which means boring grind or following the herds of mindless drones who don't bother to toss a cure or a raise before moving to the next FATE.

Could you use (Survival?) manuals from the Grand Company.. I believe they give a boost to XP from Gathering jobs. Also you can collect good seals from doing FATEs to pay for the manuals. Also not sure if that stacks with Rested XP and Food (it used to in 1.0 but I have not tried in 2.0)

Sure does stack, I get +103% on my first gathering attempt per node suggesting my 50% rest bonus, 50% manual bonus and 3% food bonus all stack together.

Why not make a static group and take on dungeons?

The duty finder is a tool to aid finding dungeon parties, not the only way of doing them. Get your friends and do dungeons together.

FATE parties are an easy way of getting exp but I only took advantage of this when levelling my second class to 50. Hunters log has great exp and quests are found in abundance throughout all instances.

I have a map which legend says leads to Blizzard's main office only problem is you have to walk through Mordor pass through the Ring of Fire and win a staring contest against each eye on a Beholder. thankfully nobody is forcing you to do fates. I'll tell you what... just because you see so many shouts for fate parties and fates disappear in a matter of seconds because everyone wants to do them does not mean you HAVE to do them. unlike popular believe, you CAN level pretty fast (if that is your goal) by doing chain grinding, too. just as repetative as fates but you can jump back and forth between both, I guess.

about the guildHESTs..
I haven't tried the lvl 40 ones yet, but I do notice an increase in difficulty up to lvl 35, so my guess would be that the hests are a means to slowly but steadily get people 'into it'. same as the dungeons only slowly become more difficult (some say haukke manor is the first difficult one, I personally found the first difficult one to be toto rak, and that's not even one you .have. to do for your main story so not everyone does it)

Have u done all the guildhests up to your level? Those are pretty fun and give tons of xp first time you clear them. I do agree with you that farming fates can be kinda boring. Def join a party if u are gonna fate grind for a bit. Also yea, Duty Finder kinda sucks post Brayflox Longstop as it seems to me that the dungeons get a pretty significant bump in difficulty from then on. I joined a great FC on my server and have been loving the availability of players on my server that i know can handle the dungeons im running. They are basically helping me get to 50 quick so i can heal for them :)
Guess what im saying is there are a few others things u can try besides fate grinding before you give up on the game, but if thats just how u feel then no one can change ur mind. If its not the game for you then it just isn't and im sure u can find something out there that suits u better.

EDIT: Also dont neglect your hunters log. That thing is beast for xp.

How are you winding up dead in FATEs? Are you doing them solo as a tank and just expecting randome people to be able to click on you and drop a heal amid all that craziness? Are you even bothering to get into a FATE group? EVERY zone on my server has multiple groups going on for FATEs, it helps XP and generally, you'll get healed.

How the heck are you stuck grinding for two levels? Do you have a 50 and have done ALL of the side quests? Have you cleared your hunting log?

Sounds to me like your complaining just to complain.

Gathering could use a boost since they nerfed nodes from 6 to 4. But, your issues are purely player based.

Fate spams: Don't have to spam them and group up with others when you do, better xp!

Dungeon Queues: Buddy up with a WHM or a Tank for faster queue times!

Players not following strategies: Player's fault, not the game.. Not like that hest was important anyways.

Fate (not getting cures): Get into a fate party.

Sorry that you take back a lot of what you said during beta as I see most of the issues you have are with what players are doing and not the game is doing. People will behave how they want and this will continue, if you have an issue with how the players are handling the content then I'm afraid you may not last too long in any MMO. Hope it gets better for you and happy adventuring!

Gathering jobs have no boosts?

-Rested exp works.
-And you can buy scrolls form the GC Vendor for 2000 seals that boosts gathering exp by 50% for 3 hours up to 40,000. You can buy them for crafting too. And if you think 2000 is a lot... At level 50 with fates you drown in seals.

Not getting credit on Fates?
-> Join a fate train pt, all the aoe kills people in your group get net you exp as if you were in an EXP Party and if they get a gathering drop from a fate objective you get one too and can turn it in.

Dungeon Ques?

-> This happens in any game with this system, even wow.... It's not meant to be instant and it's not the games fault it's not. It's people and what roles they decide to be creating that inbalance. The Que System is a luxury, something that's nice to have when you need it, not something you should rely on. Make a linkshell, join a linkshell, shoot join 10 linkshells, join an FC, and run with people you know...

Exp fill in gaps
-> It's not something people see apparently, but you can join a part with 3 to 7 people in the same level gap as you so say 36-41 and go kill stuff thats level 45 and get more EXP than fates. Also umm, 3 levels at 38, go to coerthas highlands, do Svara and the fates there you'll be 40+ in an hour. Then go to Northern Thanalan for DD and the Fates there (join a party) and you'll be 50 in a day.

Yeah if you are dieing in fates, you must not be in a group. It's nearly impossible to fate effciently if you are not in a group. Fate Trains are the new EXP party of FFXIV 2.0. This game requires you to group as much as FFXI does really. Sure you can go solo, but it sucks, don't expect it not to.

Oh you mean the buffs? They don't boost a great deal from what I've seen. It's only what 5%? And with each tree giving maybe 180-200 xp per swing then you're only getting an additional 10 xp per swing.

Nobody cures because they don't get xp for curing, so all the healers spam aero. If it's a boss people ignore adds, so you have to solo them if they aggro and if you got more than 3 on you at once you have to run for your life or die.

You're right, in beta most players were helpful because there weren't nearly as many which meant we had to work together and it was a bit of a challenge, but in live the player base is much bigger and most only fend for themselves, and since the player base is bigger everything is easier in numbers rather than difficulty.

It's a 50% boost, add that with rested xp and it's 100%.

Oh, I was thinking of the company buff Earth and Water not the manuals. Yeah the manuals... meh 50%, that's only gonna be roughly 300 per swing, not a massive boost when I can get 300% boost in a successful HQ craft. I'd have to think about that after my brain's recovered from another dull FATE train.

I'd appreciate if you and anybody else could stop perpetrating this myth, I've gone SOLO into FATEs and done nothing but healing and gotten gold every time. FATEs rate your rewards based on ENMITY, not damage dealt to enemies, kills, or some other myth people might believe. Enmity is generated the most by tank-y skills and HEALING people who are in combat.

I have a 15 CNJ, I cured through 3 FATEs and got 0 reward for it. I noticed that later on and so on the 4th FATE I cast aero as well and I got a gold medal. Myth confirmed.

not really.
you were healing people that weren't actually engaging mobs from the fate. that's all. and that happens a LOT in the lower level fates because these fates always spawn in-between all kinds of other mobs (often even the same ones as you need for the fate)
and don't understand this the wrong way, because I heal in fates a lot too and I hardly ever bother with fate groups. I always make sure if I heal that I heal whoever actually ticked a mob so I'm sure i'm healing the 'right' person. (of course I won't just let someone die, either)

If you are fed up already just leave this game.

I seriously don't understand why so many people who don't like this game have to make a threat to cry about how awful this game is.

Easy solution: don't play the game and look for something you actually enjoy.
